SR. WIRELESS INTEGRATION & TEST ENGINEER (DIRECT TO CELL)

As a Wireless Integration and Test Engineer for Direct-To-Cell, you will play a critical role in integrating, testing, and optimizing the functional performance, reliability, and robustness of a complex satellite cellular network with a focus on the Radio Access Network (RAN) software. You will work directly with development teams to test and qualify RAN software to ensure it will work on orbit and will achieve target performance. You will also work directly with partner operators to define and execute acceptance testing while collaborating with these partner operators to debug RAN issues and optimize network performance.

You will help deploy and manage lab infrastructure for internal RAN development and testing. You may implement python-based test automation to test new RAN features and functionality while also overseeing test automation and execution done by other engineers. You will plan, track, prioritize, and report test and production network status to project leaders. You will ensure the Direct-To-Cell network provides the best possible communication system performance.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead test and integration activities for Direct-To-Cell RAN software.

  • Own the testing, network acceptance, and debugging of RAN issues for partner operators.

  • Optimize cellular RAN performance KPIs for global Direct-To-Cell network.

  • Work directly with software development teams to write RAN test plans, implement automated tests, and debug issues.

  • Build out and maintain lab test infrastructure.

  • Based on candidate's skillset, area of responsibility may span everything from wireless/RF DVT and performance qualification to functional feature validation, regression, and release testing.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, math, or STEM discipline and 5+ years of professional engineering experience; OR 7+ years of professional engineering experience, in lieu of a degree.

  • Experience with 4G or 5G air interface, call processing, and network architecture specifically focused on the Radio Access Network (RAN).

  • Experience with UE (User Equipment - Phone/Handset) log analysis and other debug tools (QXDM, QCAT, Wireshark).

  • Experience with with UDP/TCP/IPv4/IPv6/VLAN and debugging basic networking issues.

  • Prior experience with test and integration for a cellular modem or wireless network.

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Strong knowledge of wireless communications, networking protocols and/or signal processing.

  • Prior experience debugging issues for a cellular network deployed at scale (either as a RAN vendor, network operator, or phone OEM)

  • Software development experience with python.

  • Strong skills in debugging and performance optimization; exceptional analytical skills and engineering fundamentals.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Ability to work effectively in a dynamic environment with changing needs and requirements.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be willing to work extended hours and weekends as needed.

  • Ability to travel as needed (up to 25%)

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:

Pay Range:

Sr. Wireless Integration & Test Engineer/Senior: $170,000.00 - $230,000.00/per year

Your actual level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job-related knowledge and skills, education, and experience.
