Walmart Software Engineer III - Web in Sunnyvale, California

As a part of Walmart Global Tech, you will build state of the art personalization and recommendation solutions that will elevate the e-commerce experience of millions of customers. We are looking for a Software Engineer to join the Walmart+ Member Engagement & Retention team under the Customer Experience organization. From groceries and entertainment to sporting goods and crafts, Walmart U.S. offers an extensive selection that our customers value, whether they shop online at Walmart.com, through one of our mobile apps, or in-store. Focus areas include customers, stores and employees, in-store service, merchant tools, merchant data science, and search and personalization. About the Team:

The Member Engagement & Retention team works closely with our US stores and eCommerce business to better serve customers by empowering team members, stores, and merchants with technological innovation while engaging Walmart+ members with the innumerous benefits being offered. We have increased engagement and retention of W+ members to dizzying heights and we have only gotten started. Building platforms and data solutions powered by ML and Personalization, our features are tuned to cater the best of the best to customers.

What you'll do:

  • Develop features with the highest level of quality by thinking of all the ways that the feature can be broken, with resiliency plans and fail-safe mechanisms in place

  • Build performant SPA's using React, Redux, Next.js, NX, React Query, GraphQL, HTML5, JavaScript, Typescript, and CSS3

  • Experience in testing frameworks React Testing Library, Jest

  • Understand the Business/Customer/Technical requirements and assist in analyzing the existing solutions to address the needs

  • Monitor and debug production applications using Splunk, Dynatrace to pinpoint root causes and fix bugs

  • Improve the quality of software systems for Walmart.com using industry best practices for code quality, accessibility, and usability.

  • Assist in the selection of appropriate languages, development standards and tools for software coding/configuration.

  • Understand cloud technologies and design solutions deployed to Azure, GCP or AWS

  • Work collaboratively with other software engineers and teams to improve performance, stability, and resource consumption

  • Ensure security policy requirements are properly applied to components/application during code development/configuration

  • Adapt to the Agile development lifecycle methodology

  • Execute test cases to test the code and detect errors and defects for the entire component

  • Track and analyze defects for the component/ module and carry out regression testing to fix defects in all instances of code changes

  • Participate in the discovery phase of small to medium projects to come up with a high-level design by partnering with the product management, Web Operations, project management, business, and user experience teams

  • Utilize performance tuning and analytics tools like Splunk, Dynatrace to monitor and identify frontend performance issues and provide solutions to improve performance and scalability

  • Create and maintain continuous integration and deployment systems using Jenkins and git

  • Apply knowledge of SEO techniques, SEO principles, and modern debugging skills

What you'll bring:

  • At least 4 years of experience in Web development

  • Extensive understanding of the Web framework components and their respective lifecycles combined with a solid knowledge of multithreading, networking, offline storage, and performance tuning

  • Experience with building performant SPA's using React, Redux, Next.js, NX, React Query, GraphQL, HTML5, JavaScript, Typescript, and CSS3

  • Build reusable Web components, orchestrate user-interactions integrating with backend services via REST and GraphQL APIs

  • Experience with software maintenance tools and techniques, application monitoring tools and techniques, debugging tools, mock screen, pseudocodes, reverse Engineering, traceability matrix, system performance, security, integration, data migration and accessibility, design Methodologies, and telemetry

  • Wide experience working in multi-module environment projects

  • Extensive knowledge of git and continuous integration

  • Experience in good app architecture using design patterns such as MVVM, MVP, or Clean

  • Experience in working for large corporations

  • Experience in working for retail industry

Live Better U is a Walmart-paid education benefit program for full-time and part-time associates in Walmart and Sam's Club facilities. The annual salary range for this position is $117,000.00-$234,000.00

Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses.
