Google Principal Engineer, Gemini Cloud Assist Design and Configuration in Sunnyvale, California

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics or other relevant engineering discipline or equivalent practical experience.

  • 15 years of experience working as a technical software engineering leader or 13 years with an advanced degree.

  • Experience with technical innovation within cross-functional engineering environments.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's or PhD degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, or other relevant engineering discipline, or equivalent practical experience

  • 15 years of experience as a Software Engineering leader in building Cloud Application management products, Configuration Management products (Terraform or Crossplane or Pulumi), Infrastructure as Code (IaC), Infrastructure areas, and expertise building Gen AI, ML products.

  • Experience in configuration management tools and automation efforts with technical troubleshooting and performance tuning experience.with Enterprise or Datacenter Network architecture.

  • Experience successfully producing software products and large-scale distributed systems.

The Gemini Cloud Assist team builds platforms and products to deliver new ways to design, operate, and optimize the Google Cloud with a cross-product, integrated, and in-product AI guided assistance. Our aim is to simplify and make it easier for GenAI applications experimentation, development, and productionisation. Gemini Cloud Assist Design Center accelerates application development by translating customer requirements in the form of multimodal inputs into Google Cloud deployable IaC configurations and scripts.

As Principal Engineer for Gemini Cloud Assist Design Center, you will work closely with our Product teams to drive strategy, innovate, and prototype how to evolve and transform our Google Cloud products to provide Generative AI driven cloud application design, IaC configuration management, and product led growth experiences and solutions.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $278,000-$399,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.   • Provide architecture and technical direction for the team by being an expert in cloud application management, infrastructure as Code space and Gen AI to build platforms and products to help customers to easily, efficiently, and safely build and run applications on Google Cloud.

  • Develop a strategic vision bringing in Gen AI for the cloud application design and deployment, Onboarding Product Led Growth, IaC config generation and translation, and drive IaC quality with LLMs by working with product and research teams.

  • Work with all the product areas and influence stakeholders across the organization to build joint roadmaps and drive adoption of IaC and driving quality with Gemini Cloud Assist Design Center.

  • Influence external IaC technologies and developer roadmaps via direct engagements as well as Operational Support Systems (OSS) strategy.
