Comcast’s Technology, Product & Experience (TPX) organization works at the intersection of media and technology. Our innovative teams are continually developing and delivering products that transform the customer experience.

Xfinity data platform team (XDP) owns the cloud platforms that manages configurations and operational data for millions of Xfinity internet gateways and offers features for xFi residential and business customers to simplify & improve their network connectivity needs &

experience. XDP is a self-contained team of talented software developers, DevOps engineers and QA/automation engineers.

Role Description

As a Software Engineer Intern on the XDP team, you will work alongside our engineers, specializing in building high-performance, reliable back-end systems and server-side APIs, creating the interconnectivity fabric of the platform and enabling the provisioning of a new and revolutionary class of services to millions of Internet users.

What are some interesting problems the student will work on?

In your role, you will be developing new software and web applications, support applications under development and customize current applications, leveraging big data technologies. You will also be participating in the team’s Site Reliability Engineering efforts.

Where can this student make an impact?

You’ll be working with the best and brightest minds in Comcast while we roll out the cloud platform servies that help manage Comcast devices and next generation features.  Success in this role is characterized by a higher speed to market, with fewer customer-facing defects and outages.  

Job Responsibilities

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Provides research and assistance to leadership in the development and design of new projects.

  • Develop low latency/high throughput server infrastructure components to handle large volume of transactions

  • Analyze requirements, design and develop code, unit test code and test tools

  • Help with triaging Production issues

  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Preferred Skills

  • Programming experience in Python, Java or Go Programming language

  • Good understanding of algorithm complexity, parallel/distributed systems, advanced data structures, computer networking and operating systems

  • Preferred Majors: Computer Science or any Engineering discipline with software development background

Minimum Qualifications and Eligibility Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree from a United States-based college or university

  • Rising Junior or Rising Senior only (must have a graduation date between Winter 2025- Spring 2027)

  • Returning to degree-program (for at least a semester) after the completion of the summer internship (meaning, student must be returning to school for Fall 2025 semester before graduating)

  • Available to work 40 hours per week over the course of the summer program- June 2 through August 15, 2025

  • Authorized to work in the United States with no current or future sponsorship needs

  • Available to report in-person to the work location on the job posting (unless virtual offering)

Salary:

Base Pay: $32.00
