Actalent R&D Project Engineer in Sunbury, Ohio

Job Title: Product Development EngineerJob Description

An automotive manufacturer specializing in the development and manufacturing of shock absorbers and power steering systems for two- and four-wheeled vehicles is seeking a Project Engineer to undertake capital investment opportunities. The Engineer will be responsible for maintaining a safe work environment, resolving production equipment concerns, participating in process improvement activities, handling multiple projects simultaneously, creating effective presentations, discussing with staff and management personnel, supporting departmental business plan objectives, and addressing quality issues. Hands-on involvement in ongoing production floor activities is required.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a safe work environment, follow all safety policies and procedures, and report safety issues to management.

  • Engage in daily production floor activities, resolving equipment concerns.

  • Participate in process improvement activities.

  • Implement continuous improvements within cross-functional teams.

  • Manage all phases of multiple concurrent projects, from concept to implementation and beyond.

  • Create and deliver effective presentations on recommended solutions and alternatives.

  • Discuss with vendors, staff, and management regarding purchases, procedures, product specifications, manufacturing capabilities, and project status.

  • Handle special projects as directed by management.

  • Support departmental business plan objectives and 5S activities.

  • Contribute to new model development.

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering

  • 3+ years experience with Project management in Product Development (cradle to grave)

  • 3+ years experience in high-volume assembly operations/manufacturing environment

  • Strong background in electro-mechanical equipment

  • Experience with capital investments

  • Expertise in designing and implementing solutions to production equipment problems, from simple modifications to complete design and build issues

  • Experience in SolidWorks and AutoCAD

  • Experience with poka-yokes

  • Experience with equipment modifications and reverse engineering

  • Automotive experience

  • Experience with SolidEdge

Work Environment

The work environment involves hands-on engagement with production floor activities, utilizing technologies such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, and SolidEdge. The role requires adherence to safety policies and procedures. The Engineer will work on multiple projects simultaneously, interacting with cross-functional teams and discussing project specifics with vendors, staff, and management. The dress code is business casual, and the position supports departmental business plan objectives and 5S activities.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $43.27 - $55.29/hr.
