Hiring Heavy Equipment Mechanics
Job Description
This position involves identifying and providing solutions to equipment malfunctions and failures through inspection, diagnosis, repair, reconditioning, and preparation of equipment both in-house and in the field. You will work with heavy-duty off-highway transmissions, axles, and components from various vendors such as Twin Disc, ZF, Funk, Clark, AxleTech, Wichita, Eaton, Murphy, and Carraro.
Responsibilities
Inspect and diagnose equipment malfunctions and failures.
Repair, recondition, and prepare equipment in a timely manner.
Troubleshoot and repair engines, transmissions, axles, and drives.
Work on heavy equipment, including telehandlers and skidders.
Convert transmissions from manual to automatic.
Perform preventive maintenance and troubleshooting on diesel engines.
Work with transmissions, rear ends, and engine rebuilds.
Adhere to DOT regulations and work on large-scale gearboxes.
Essential Skills
Experience in diesel maintenance and heavy equipment repair.
Proficiency in hydraulics and troubleshooting.
Ability to diagnose equipment issues and perform preventive maintenance.
Experience with engine troubleshooting and repair in the diesel or automotive industry.
Knowledge of basic hydraulic principles and DC current electronic fundamentals.
Ability to read and understand assembly manuals, drawings, and schematics.
Strong mechanical aptitude and failure analysis skills.
Ability to lift 50 lbs and stand for 8 consecutive hours.
Dexterity and agility for climbing around equipment and driving vehicles with clutch transmission.
Strong customer service orientation and sense of urgency.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
High school graduate or equivalent.
Possess a basic set of tools.
Experience with marine equipment preferred.
3-5 years of heavy equipment mechanic experience preferred.
3-5 years of diesel tech experience.
Experience with Deutz and Isuzu Line preferred.
Vocational training or military mechanic training preferred.

Work Environment
Work in a newer shop on heavy equipment ranging from construction to marine equipment. The schedule is Monday to Friday, 6am-4pm, with potential for slight variations. This is a smaller team environment where teamwork and a good fit with the crew are essential.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $40.00
