Responsibilities Works alone or in a group performing a variety of tasks involving the maintenance and repair of recreational grounds, buildings and structures, and appurtenant fixtures. Carpentry: Measures, cuts, constructs and/or repairs wood, composite building materials, and wood substitute items where specific fit and accuracy are required within allowable limits to produce a serviceable product. Electrical/Plumbing: As needed, replaces worn or broken wall switches and outlets. Laborer: Loads and unloads heavy boxes, bulky supplies, and materials to and from trucks, dollies, etc.; moves heavy boxes/cartons by hand or dolly; opens crates and boxes using crowbar, cuts bands using shears; stacks boxes and cartons as directed. Vehicle Operation: May be required to drive vehicles up to and including a 5-ton truck to move furniture, etc., to various buildings on the installation. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Ability to communicate in English at a level to assure the duties described can be accomplished in a safe and satisfactory manner. Demonstrated skills in successfully operating standard tools. Experience in accomplishing the types of duties described in this job. FWS Allowances and Differentials All FWS employees are entitled to overtime work for work in excess of 8 hours in a day or in excess of 40 hours in the administrative workweek, whichever provides the greater benefit to the employee. Regular full-time, regular part-time (to include those in a limited tenure appointment category) and regularly scheduled flexible employees are entitled to Sunday premium pay when working Sunday shifts. A FWS employee will be paid a night shift differential of 7.5% for the entire shift when a majority of the employee's regularly scheduled non-overtime hours of work occur between the hours of 1500 and 2400. A FWS employee will be paid a night shift differential of 10% of the scheduled rate if a majority of the employee's regularly scheduled non-overtime hours of work occur between the hours of 2300-0800. Incentives and Bonuses Incentives will not be paid. Foreign Overseas Allowances Allowances, differentials, or incentives will not be paid. Post allowance may be paid in accordance with the Department of States Standardized Regulations (DSSR), contingent upon eligibility.
