What is an Electrical Design Technician?
The Electrical Design Technician will assist the R&D Department in the design of a variety of electromechanical products. Support development, manufacturing, and regulatory activities, using basic knowledge of design principles and good thinking ability.
What We're Looking For
The ideal candidate will have a technical degree or certificate in electronics or industrial controls with a minimum of two years relevant experience. THT/SMT component and PCB assembly required. Schematic, soldering, and circuit troubleshooting required. Ability to perform calibrations, product testing, and record/summarize data required.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Participate in new and existing product ideation initiatives.
- Collaborate with R&D Engineers, outside vendors, and/or consultants on projects.
- Modify 3D parts, assemblies, and drawings.
- Modify PCB layouts utilizing design software; test and calibrate PCB assemblies.
- Utilize BOM's to procure electrical, mechanical, and electromechanical components.
- Assemble PCBA's, sub-systems, and complete electromechanical systems for prototype, alpha, and beta testing.
- Utilize small and large tools, hoists, dollies, and other devices when necessary.
- Perform testing; including test fixturing, set up, monitoring, and reporting.
- Assist with installation, start up, and troubleshooting of equipment in lab, field, and beta test environments.
- Comply with all safety procedures in each area assigned, including but not limited to, wearing protective clothing, special handling of chemicals, special handling of product, safety/rescue equipment usage, etc.
- Perform material handling activities such as packing, receiving, picking, lifting, moving, and using material handling equipment when necessary.
- Interact and communicate with all levels of employees within the company, as well as suppliers, customers, and peers effectively.
- Comply with policies, procedures, standards and rules of the company.
- Maintain quality assurance policy consistent with ISO standards.
- Maintain work area in a clean, orderly, and safe manner.
- Punctual, regular, and consistent attendance.
Perform all other job-related duties as assigned.
Required Experience and Education
Technical degree or certificates (electronics or industrial controls). Additional licenses, certifications, or additional education preferred. • Minimum two years relevant experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment • Critical thinking and analytical skills a must • THT/SMT component and PCB assembly required • Schematic, soldering, and circuit troubleshooting required • Ability to perform calibrations, product testing, and record/summarize data required • PCB schematic capture and layout experience a plus • AutoCad and Inventor 3-D modeling software experience a plus • 4-20 loop device and HART experience a plus. • Able to read, write, and follow verbal instructions in Standard English.
