Lockheed Martin Sr Stationery Equipment Mechanic in Stratford, Connecticut

Description: Service and repair the more complex heating, ventilating, air conditioning, stationary equipment, water supply systems, and associated systems in powerhouse, Co-Gen plant, chilled water plant, oil burner installations, and other related installations and equipment and guide other in the performance of the same tasks

Typical Responsibilities

❑ Work from Drawings, service manuals, and other sources of information to service complex systems, where the installation typically is comprised of large machinery and a variety of auxiliary equipment and control systems which require sensitive balancing adjustments to maintain desired conditions.

❑ Check various parameters and functioning of individual components, including electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic control subsystems, and make a diagnosis to determine the cause of the trouble.

❑ Make repairs, replace parts, balance out variables, such as air flows, fan speeds, dryers, steam flow, and humidity, and make adjustments to control systems to get components to function properly as a unit and meet environmental condition specifications.

❑ Patrol assigned area, check functioning of components, and take steps necessary to prevent equipment failure.

❑ Overhaul systems components such as pumps, blowers, and condensers.

❑ Disassemble units, clean and inspect parts, and determine which should be replaced or reconditioned.

❑ Replace bearings, seals, valves, and a variety of other parts, remove gall marks and corrosion, and perform other similar work to recondition parts.

❑ Rebuild machinery, fit new and reconditioned parts to work properly with old, scrape in bearings, determine shims and spacers required to get proper clearances, and perform other work to get a properly functioning unit.

❑ Rearrange piping, including threaded pipe and copper tubing, to change existing systems, replace old equipment, and facilitate servicing work.

❑ Check work of other mechanics and instruct in proper work methods and use of equipment.

❑ Analyze boiler water, determine the rate at which chlorine and other chemicals should be added to control harmful elements, and set controllers as required.

❑ Perform boiler plant/Co-Gen operator functions when required.

❑ When emergency or unusual conditions arise in operations of Maintenance Department, or at request of supervisor, may be assigned other maintenance duties usually of a less skilled nature.

❑ Execute/perform operator checklists and work orders as required.

❑ Contribute to the overall effectiveness of equipment by performing operator required upkeep.

❑ Follow all rules and regulations pertaining to environmental health and safety.

❑ Segregate waste material and follow good housekeeping practices.

❑ Refer only unusual conditions to Working Leader or supervisor

Basic Qualifications:

Requires knowledge of boilers, chiller plant equipment and their auxiliaries, and the ability to read and interpret various steam, heat, air meters and recorders.

Equivalent to 2 years high school plus 2 to 3 years specialized trades training in power plant operation.

Requires State OE-2, S-1 or S-2

Experience 2 to 3 years.

Must be able to work any shift during a 7 day work week.

Desired Skills:

Previous experience as powerhouse/boiler room mechanic.

Be able to work in a team environment.

Ability to Work Remotely: Onsite Full-time: The work associated with this position will be performed onsite at a designated Lockheed Martin facility.

Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.

Schedule for this Position: Standard Monday to Friday 40 hour work week
