Medical Technologists (MT) work with the healthcare team to gather and provide laboratory information to caregivers that assists them with patient diagnosis and treatment. This diagnostic data can also provide vital information for disease prevention and health monitoring. MTs use advanced instrumentation to perform testing in various areas of the lab.

A caregiver in this position works 11:00PM - 7:30AM
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
Perform and interpret tests at all complexity levels.
Correlate abnormal laboratory data with pathological states.
Determine the validity of test results and the need for additional tests.
Communicate test results, reference ranges, specimen requirements and other pertinent information.
Follow the laboratory's procedures for specimen handling and processing, test analysis, reporting and maintaining records of patient test results.
Adhere to the laboratory's quality control policies and document all quality control activities, instrument and procedural calibrations and maintenance performed.
Maintain instruments, equipment and clear and legible records.
Perform proficiency testing.
Participate in continuing education, professional development and annual competency assessments.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
- Bachelor's degree in chemical, physical, biological or clinical laboratory science or medical technology from a four-year college or university and one year of training in an approved program with registry (eligible)/certification at a Medical Technologist/Clinical Laboratory Scientist level OR meet the CLIA qualifications for high complexity testing personnel grandfathering clauses.
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
Certification as a Medical Technologist (MT) or certification eligible from the American Society of Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or American Medical Technologists (AMT). Certification must be obtained within one year of hire.
One year Generalist experience in chemistry and hematology.

Physical Requirements:
Physical demands include: Visual acuity to study specimens under a microscope.
The ability to distinguish colors.
Fine motor skills and manual dexterity to handle specimens and lab equipment required to process specimens and repair equipment.
May be required to stand for long periods of time.
Light lifting may be required.
May be exposed to hazardous chemicals, biohazards, radioactive materials, etc.
Personal Protective Equipment:
