CUMMINS EMISSIONS SOLUTIONS Chemical Sys Tech Specialists Job WI045 in STOUGHTON, Wisconsin

JOB REQUIREMENTS: Provide leadership of projects to senior engineers with full accountability to the project team. Combine the application of chemistry and chemical engineering fundamentals with automotive catalyst test reactor modification, use and maintenance. Design tests and interpret results considering the chemical/electrochemical performance reactions common in automotive emission reduction catalysis, applying principles of chemical instrumentation including infrared spectroscopy and electron diffraction spectroscopy in test development and data interpretation, predicting the effect of common chemical poisons on conversion efficiency. Apply principles of catalytic reactor design, reaction-induced heat generation, heat transfer and mass transport; application of principles in identifying and addressing leaks, contamination of reactor or feedstocks, component and instrumentation failures, predicting the effect of common physical deterioration phenomena. Responsible for the characterization of chemical conversion data under conditions designed to be representative of customer use, interpretation of reactor and non-reactor data including BET and EDS/ICP-MS elemental composition, as a data quality check and the development and use of hydrothermal and chemical methods for acceleration of application-like catalytic deterioration. Lead the development and improvement of work processes and systems within business unit. Utilize knowledge of engineering technology to develop drawings and process maps of existing systems, design/re-design gas and liquid vapor introduction, heating measurement and temperature/flow controls subsystems. Develop scripts to automate quality checks and results computations on large datasets, interpreting reaction simulations considering common assumptions and simplifications. Examine and interpret test data using Product Function Modeling, Simulation and Analysis to draw conclusions that influence hardware and controls design decisions and to provide information for computational tools development. Use knowledge of Failure Modes and Effects Analyses (FMEA) and root cause analyses to determine assignable causes and recommend actions to prevent problem reoccurrence. Utilize knowledge of Product Verification and Validation Management to evaluate analytical, simulation and physical test results to verify product capability and validate requirements, communicating results that are understood by engineers in adjacent disciplines (engine system design, materials engineering, thermal/fluid systems engineering, service engineering, application engineering). ***** OTHER EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS: Positions require a Bachelor\'s degree in Chemical Engineering or related field and 3 years of experience as a Chemical Engineer or related position. Experience to include: Chemistry and chemical engineering fundamentals applying principles of chemical instrumentation including infrared spectroscopy and electron diffraction spectroscopy; Chemical or electrochemical performance testing; Principles of catalytic reactor design, reaction-induced heat generation, heat transfer and mass transport; application of principles in identifying and addressing leaks, contamination of reactor or feedstocks, component and instrumentation failures; Characterization of Chemical Systems; Development and use of hydrothermal and chemical methods for acceleration of application-like catalytic deterioration; Engineering technology to design/re-design gas and liquid vapor introduction, heating measurement and temperature/flow controls subsystems; Product Function Modeling, Simulation and Analysis; Failure Modes and Effects Analyses (FMEA) and root cause analyses; Product Verification and Validation Management. ***** APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS: Mail a Rsum: send resume with cover letter to Cummins Business Services, 26 Century Boulevard, Suite NT410, Nashville, TN 37214.
