Stony Brook Medicine (Stony Brook University Hospital) TH Staff Assistant II - Healthcare Teleservices - Ronkonkoma in Stony Brook, New York

Position Summary

At Stony Brook Medicine, our TH Staff Assistant II in Healthcare Teleservices is the first contact between Stony Brook Medicine, the general public and the private practice physicians population and must exemplify the highest level of guest relations.

Duties of a TH Staff Assistant II in Healthcare Tele-Services may include the following but are not limited to:

  • The incumbent must exercise good judgement in dealing with sensitive, confidential information.
  • The incumbent must be able to make appropriate decisions based upon presenting problems.
  • This position is responsible for scheduling appointments in EWS to fulfill the requirements of the department to include scheduling appointments, cancelling and viewing appointments, verification of patient registration, physician bookings. With the help of a computerized database and other resource materials, provide a quick response to visitor/phone inquiries.
  • The incumbent will be responding to patient care inquiries, health information and referrals which may be considered sensitive and/or confidential.
  • This position will function independently, on a day to day basis, with the supervision from the immediate supervisor.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications: Associate's degree and at least 3 years of customer service and/or administrative experience or HS diploma/GED and at least 5 years of customer service and/or administrative experience. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Applications. Ability to work empathetically with people who are under stress (such as sick patients and their distressed family members). Ability to reflect professional and friendly verbal and written communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications: Working knowledge of Cerner Powerchart and Scheduling Notebook. Bilingual in English and Spanish.

Prior to start date, the selected candidate must meet the following requirements:

  • Successfully complete pre-employment physical examination and obtain medical clearance from Stony Brook Medicine's Employee Health Services
  • Complete electronic reference check with a minimum of three (3) professional references.
  • Successfully complete a 4 panel drug screen
  • Meet Regulatory Requirements for pre employment screenings.
  • Provide a copy of any required New York State license(s)/certificate(s).

Failure to comply with any of the above requirements could result in a delayed start date and/or revocation of the employment offer.

Anticipated Pay Range:

The salary range (or hiring range) for this position is $48,839 - $59,533 / year.

The above salary range represents SBUH's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. The specific salary offer will be based on the candidate's validated years of comparable experience. Any efforts to inflate or misrepresent experience are grounds for disqualification from the application process or termination of employment if hired.

Some positions offer annual supplemental pay such as:

  • Location pay for UUP, CSEA & PEF full-time positions ($3400)
