Stony Brook University Instructional Support Assistant in Stony Brook, New York

Required Qualifications (as evidenced by an attached resume):
Associate's degree from a college or university program accredited by an agency recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) and One (1) year of full-time customer service experience. In lieu of a degree, three (3) years of full-time administrative or customer service experience may be considered.Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree from a college or university program accredited by an agency recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA). Strong computer skills with Proficiency in various software applications including but not limited to Microsoft Office. Familiarity with electronic health records and dental terminology. Bilingual in English and Spanish.Brief Description of duties:
Support Assistants perform office support and administrative work to meet the requirements of the Dental Care Clinic programs. At Stony Brook Medicine, the Support Assistant is a valuable member of our team, and will interface with all levels of management throughout the Dental Care Center. Qualified candidates will demonstrate superior communication and organizational skills while adhering to our high standard of excellence.Duties:

Provide information to patients, students, faculty residents, and staff related to patient care.

Schedule, confirm, and cancel patient appointments.

Coordinate patient appointments with other clinics within the DCC.

Assist patients and provide prompt resolutions in regards to appointments and other concerns.

Answer high-volume phone calls and triage patients to the appropriate party.

Provide excellent customer support for patients and family members.

Register patients.

Enter patient demographic information into the axiUm record accurately and completely.

Work collaboratively with other departments to ensure the accuracy of patient information.

Ensure that compliance regulations are met (presenting and obtaining consent and regulatory signatures from patients or designee, essential for treatment and payment, as per

procedure).

Maintain and require appropriate documents as necessary (i.e copies of photo ID and insurance documents etc.

Witness general consents, agreements, and acknowledgments.

Maintain all faxes and referrals from external providers.

Ability to work collaboratively and professionally with providers and staff at all times.

Managing student schedules and rosters.

Other duties or projects as assigned as appropriate to rank and departmental mission.


Special Notes:
This is a full-time appointment. FLSA Non-Exempt position, eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA.In addition to the employee's base salary, this position is eligible for $3,400 UUP annual location pay, paid biweekly.Essential Position: This has been designated as an essential position based on the duties of the job and the functions performed. Positions that are designated as such may be required to report to work/remain at work even if classes are canceled, and the campus is working on limited operations in an emergency.For this position, we are unable to sponsor candidates for work visas.
