Stonehouse Technology Centre (SHTC) is the SLB drilling Centre of Excellence. It supports SLB through innovative engineering and quality-driven manufacturing, with portfolio emphasis on rotary steerable systems, Measurement While Drilling tools, Specialised Measurement tools and Rechargeable Batteries for Downhole use, and power source products.

Over 300 employees work in SHTC's modern, fit-for-purpose building in scenic Gloucestershire. The facility was constructed to handle future demand for PowerDrive tools with an efficient workflow that ensures assembled tools are extensively and rigorously tested before delivery. On site, tools can be monitored using state of-the-art hardware and connectivity that link SHTC to all field locations.

SHTC continues Research & Development investment for new technologies, extending operational limits so that clients can reach hotter, deeper reserves.

Essential Responsibilities and Duties:

Lean Six Sigma

• Responsible for the implementation of key elements of Lean, such as: standardized work instructions, line balancing, layout and work sequence (routing) optimization, training development matrix, Value Stream Mapping, Kaizen/5S workouts, pull processes, TPM (total preventive maintenance), cell design, and quick changeover/batch-size optimization.

Processes and Technical Contribution

• Implement process improvements to achieve manufacturing excellence in areas such as process yield (e.g. First Pass Yield, Rolled Throughput Yield), cycle time reduction and productivity.

• Provide shop floor feedback on product design and manufacturability issues to Engineering and DFMs (e.g. through the use of Engineering Change Requests - ECRs).

• Review and sign-off on Engineering Change Orders that impact Inventory - including product life cycle issues, obsolescence, etc. This requires a technical understanding of sealing systems, selection principles of materials, and the ability to read technical drawings.

• Creates, implements, and monitors key performance indicators and metrics on manufacturing process capability and product quality.

• Monitoring and reducing process costs.

Quality

• Responsible to assist with technical investigation, root cause analysis and corrective action implementation for manufacturing quality issues.

Qualifications:

Currently has or is in the process of obtaining a Bachelor’s or Master’s in Mechanical, Process, Industrial/Manufacturing Engineering.
