Oracle Software Development Manager in STOCKHOLM, Sweden

Job Description

We are looking for a Java Sustaining Engineering Manager in Stockholm, Sweden, where you will lead work on the resolution of issues related to the Java Virtual Machine that impact the stability of Java in mission critical situations.

For this position, the ideal candidate will have excellent leadership, problem solving skills, and communication skills combined with the ability to assess problems in Java application or the JDK itself, across the major releases of Java.

As the ideal candidate for this role you will have already gained the experience of leading a team, and have the skills to mentor, and develop the careers of your employees. You will be able to show that you have experience developing, maintaining and supporting a software product.

Core Experience and Qualifications

  • Coding experience in C/C++, Java

  • Ideally experience with virtual machine technologies such as Just In Time (JIT) compilation, Garbage Collection techniques, or the Common Language Runtime (.NET), etc.

Additional Qualifications

  • Demonstrate technical leadership skills

  • Experience in Linux or Windows environments (macOS and Solaris are also desirable)

  • Experience with Java application frameworks

  • Strong organizational skills and written and oral communication in English, with other languages beneficial

Responsibilities

In the role you will be working with a close-knit global team to ensure the regular release of Java updates and diagnose issues that come in against the Java platform. The JVM Sustaining manager will work effectively with multiple internal groups such as Product Development teams, Product Management, Support, and Customer Management.

While the position will be based out of Stockholm, Sweden, you will be part of a global team with the need to attend meetings that overlap with California, and some limited travel may be necessary. You should be able to work out of our Stockholm offices overlooking the Riddarfjärden for a minimum of three days a week and there will be occasional on-call requirements during the evening, weekend, and holiday hours - outside of this there is flexibility in the hours worked.

We will be looking for someone who enjoys problem solving, picking up details quickly and juggling multiple issues. Being part of a global team you should have the energy and drive to be a presence in and out of any meetings always looking for opportunities for improvement and innovation.
