Animal Lab Technician

Job Summary:

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Animal Lab Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring the welfare and humane care of all animals through gentle and positive interactions. This role involves performing various husbandry practices, data collection, and maintaining high standards of quality control.

Key Responsibilities:

• Research Husbandry Practices: Ensure good welfare and humane care for all animals, using gentle and positive human-animal interactions.

• Animal Care: Perform basic skills including animal handling/restraint, housing maintenance, and feeding procedures.

• Data Collection: Collect data, observe animals for health status, measure body weight, administer doses by various methods, conduct euthanasia, and collect biological specimens for analysis.

• Documentation: Collect, document, review, and verify data on forms or in electronic data capture systems.

• Quality Control: Review documentation of functions performed as part of quality control requirements.

• Equipment Maintenance: Use and maintain instrumentation and equipment.

• Additional Duties: Perform all other related duties as assigned.

Skills & Qualifications:

• Education: High school diploma or General Education Degree (G.E.D.) preferred.

• Experience: Minimum of 6 months of experience in animal care within a veterinary, husbandry, or laboratory setting.

• Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

• Multitasking: Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities to achieve goals.

• Computer Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and the ability to learn validated systems.

• Safety: Ability to maintain a safe working environment by observing all safety procedures and using protective clothing and equipment.

• Regulatory Compliance: Ensure the integrity of studies and fulfill regulatory requirements by adhering to Good Laboratory Practices (GLP), Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), Business Operating Procedures (BOP), and Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) rules.

• Time Management: Ability to work under specific time constraints.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $21.00
