JOB SPECIFICS

Washington County is hiring for an IT Senior Systems Administrator. The IT Server Administrator, Senior is responsible for:

  • Leading the development, implementation and maintenance of servers, storage, backups, and network services, including patch management, and critical tasks

  • Ensure availability, performance metrics, change control, manage releases, testing, and security controls are aligned with the enterprise standards

  • Document and update maintenance processes, policies and procedures and create recommendations for improvements

  • Serves as the technical expert in system administration for complex systems

  • Administers and implements VMWare virtual machines along with VMWare clustering

  • Assists with off-hours patch management of workstations and servers

  • Investigates, configure, and troubleshoot system issues and problems, determine the feasibility of system requirements, plan releases, and develop system specifications

  • Identifies methods and solutions and provides project leadership to deliver a high level of service to the customers of information technology systems

  • Perform other duties as assigned

DESIRABLE EXPERIENCE:

  • Paid work experience leading a team of server administrators focused on mobile environments in a corporate setting.

  • Paid work experience analyzing, installing, configuring and maintaining operating network and other systems software and utility servers.

  • Paid work experience deploying and managing 50 or more virtual servers, including VMware, vSphere/vCenter, and Windows Server 2012 R2 or later.

  • Paid work experience administering an Active Directory domain(s), including users and Group Policy for over 100 users.

  • Paid work experience managing Exchange 2016 or later (particularly in a hybrid environment).

  • Paid work experience managing an Enterprise level Office 365 for 1000 users or more (particularly in a hybrid environment).

  • Paid work experience as a functional team lead defining scope, planning, organizing, and directing server administrators involved in large or complex systems hardware and or software projects.

  • Paid work experience managing Citrix Workspace and/or Citrix ADC.

SELECTION TECHNIQUE: Your training and experience will be rated based on the required application material submitted and the top scoring candidates will be forwarded to the hiring department for further consideration.

HOURS / DAYS: 8:00 - 4:30 PM M-F with occasional after-hours and weekend maintenance and support.

ANTICIPATED HIRING RANGE: : $84,115.20 - $114,940.80 Annually

JOB SUMMARY

The IT Senior Systems Administrator is responsible for system design, planning, implementation monitoring and maintaining critical enterprise systems. A Senior Systems Administrator ensures availability, performance metrics, change control, manage releases, test and security controls are aligned with the enterprise standards. Serves as the technical expert in the area of system administration for complex systems. Investigates, configure, troubleshoots system issues and problems, determine feasibility of system requirements, plans releases and develops system specifications. Identifies methods, solutions, and provides project leadership in order to deliver a high level of service to the customers of information technology systems.

EMPLOYMENT CRITERIA

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: This position requires a Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or related field and six (6) years of progressively responsible system administration and/or programming experience including systems analysis, planning and development and at least two (2) years of experience leading technical projects and/or teams; OR, an Associate Degree in Information Technology or related field and eight (8) years of progressively responsible system administration and/or programming experience including systems analysis, planning and development and at least two (2) years of experience leading technical projects and/or teams; OR, an equivalent combination of education and job related work experience that totals ten (10) years of progressively responsible system administration and/or programming experience including systems analysis, planning and development and at least two (2) years of experience leading technical projects and/or teams.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Administer and maintain hardware and software critical enterprise systems and provide high level of service to users:

• Monitor and maintain availability, performance and security of systems software, hardware and related applications;

• Analyze, install, configure and maintain operating, network and other systems software and utilities, servers and other hardware and related applications systems;

• Add, remove and integrate software and hardware into existing systems internal or external;

• Test systems and applications software and impact of software updates and patches;

• Troubleshoot hardware and software systems;

• Optimize systems performance;

• Conduct, manage, track and report systems component inventory;

• Monitor and analyze resources as required for the systems administration requirement;

• Implement computer software and hardware licensing, warranty and vendor service agreements;

• Apply system updates and configuration changes within defined release processes;

• Maintain data recoverability as defined;

• Implement data backup and disaster recovery procedures;

• Create, monitor, modify and maintain user accounts and implements systems resource use policies;

• Install and maintain hardware, software and peripheral equipment at user workstations;

• Vendor management;

Provide guidance to other technical staff on assigned projects:

• Respond to security breaches, service interruptions, and other critical system situations to re-establish business functionality;

• Respond to complex technical and workstation support requests;

• Coordinate systems and plan with other internal or external systems and systems administrators or resources;

• Participate in planning for system development, upgrades, configuration changes and expansion;

• Participate in systems software and/or hardware projects;

• Train, coach and provide technical expertise to less experienced staff;

• Independently analyze workload and projects; and

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The work will involve remaining in a stationary position for extended periods of time, although the incumbent will need to move about inside the office to access files or equipment from time to time, and may occasionally need to travel to other sites to perform work or interact with other professionals. The ability to operate and interact with computers or other office equipment, via keyboard, mouse, touch screen, or other Human Interface Device (HID) is required. The incumbent will be exposed to noise and a regular flow of people around an office environment, assigned to changing priorities and occasionally required to work outside of typical business hours to meet project deadlines, or be available on an on-call basis for special projects or to provide support. The incumbent may occasionally need to move or transport moderately heavy objects, such as computer equipment and peripheral, unbox, install, inspect, troubleshoot and repair computer equipment, position themselves to inspect and maintain computer equipment under desks, beneath raised flooring, above suspended ceiling, in data closets, cabling channels/trees, or equipment racks.
