Job Description

The Manager of Conversions & Operations reports directly to the Executive Director, Event Center and provides supervision, daily workflow guidance and direction, and assistance to the day-to-day operations of the Event Center. This position is responsible for facility conversions, general oversight of facility maintenance/custodial needs, equipment repair, etc.

Work hours: Mon-Fri; 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM or as work requirements indicate; This position may require work beyond normal business hours, weekends, and holidays; This is an on-site position located in Stephenville, Texas.

Must be able to work remotely as requested by the university in times of inclement weather or other special circumstances.

Responsibilities:

  • Establishes schedules and executes facility conversions based upon facility event schedules. This will include the installation of temporary NCAA basketball floors, hoops, courtside tables, building event stages, installation of event power, etc.

  • Moves tables, chairs, and various equipment to designated areas according to diagrams, verbal instructions, and event needs.

  • Responsible for recruitment, hiring, training and supervision of part-time conversion/event operations crew staff.

  • Ensures event equipment always remains in excellent operating condition and schedules or fulfills maintenance and repair needs as necessary.

  • Ensures the overall appearance and care of the facility is always maintained at an exceptional level.

  • Coordinates adequate staffing needs for events as needed.

  • Fulfills machinist work involving fabrication of specialized parts and equipment. This may be done internally or through third party vendors.

  • Preserves and improves upon the physical assets of the event center, including ensuring preventative maintenance schedules are followed and fulfilled with campus partners or third-party vendors.

  • Ensures all building fire code regulations are followed on a day to day and event day basis.

  • Assists in the procurement of parts and equipment related to conversions and facility operations.

  • Responsible for the proper storage of supplies and equipment.

  • Assists technical audio and visual teams with load-in & set-up as needed.

  • Assists other Campus Operations departments as needed.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in applicable field or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Five years related experience.

Preferred Experience:

  • Preferred experience installing and maintaining NCAA basketball equipment including temporary wood floors, basketball hoops, courtside LED tables, etc.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

  • Demonstrated ability to complete several projects simultaneously and under tight timelines.

  • Knowledge of general building safety codes relating to fire code, electrical safety, egress routes, emergency lights, etc.

  • Ability to effectively and collaboratively work with stakeholders who may have competing interests.

  • Basic ability to operate and maintain various work-related vehicles and equipment (trucks, fork lifts, scissor lifts, tractors, etc.)

  • Ability to work weekends during major events, setups and strikes.

  • Ability to lift, carry and/or otherwise move items weighing approximately 50+ pounds

  • Ability to work in tight workspaces and at high elevations including in catwalks up to 75 ft high.

The target base annual salary range is $59,370 to $84,311 and may be negotiable based on funding availability and candidate experience/skillset in relation to the minimum requirements of this position.
