The American Red Cross is currently seeking a Divisional Philanthropy Senior Partner to support the Northern California Coastal Region (Sonoma, Napa, Marin, Solano, Contra Costa, San Francisco, San Joaquin, Stanislaus, San Mateo, Santa Cruz, San Jose, Santa Cruz, Santa Clara, San Benito, Monterey, Merced) *This is a hybrid work position and can be located anywhere in the region.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:

  1. This position will Implement overall fundraising strategy for assigned major donor portfolio of approximately 35 donors, with a target of raising $3M+ for Pacific Division of Red Cross.

  2. Manage and develop individual/family foundation major donor accounts and more complex donor solicitations. This includes:

  • Securing major gifts at the $1M to $5M level.

  • Managing systems and software to track and cultivate donors and prospects, including our donor database and wealth screening tools.

  • Creating and implementing moves management plans.

  • Making direct, face-to-face solicitations, and assist other staff with their solicitations (e.g. provide portfolio development support, strategic counsel, and help with donor communications).

  • Acknowledging major donors through public and private recognition.

  • Tracking and reporting progress using specific metrics.

  1. Build capacity to identify, cultivate and solicit major donors by providing educational, technical and program support.

  2. Support Red Cross Women in Philanthropy as part of portfolio growth, with guidance and mentoring to division team on expanding this group of donors.

WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED (Minimum Qualifications):

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing or related discipline required.

  • Minimum 7 years of fundraising and/or sales leadership experience or equivalent combination of education and related experience required. Must have extensive knowledge of fundraising and/or sales principles and techniques in large organizations. Must have successful track record in solicitation of large fund amounts. A current valid driver's license and good driving record is required.

  • Management Experience: N/a

  • Skills & Abilities: Excellent organizational, collaborative, analytical, presentation and communication (interpersonal, oral and written) skills. Good project management skills and ability to meet deadlines. Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel. Knowledge of fundraising database systems (e.g. Raiser’s Edge, Salesforce.com). Ability to work on a team.

  • Travel: 25-40% business travel may be required.

  • Combination of candidate’s education and general experience satisfies requirements so long as the total years equate to description’s minimum education and general experience years combined (Management experience cannot be substituted).

COMPENSATION RANGE AND BENEFITS FOR YOU:

The salary range for this position is $ $150K - $170K

Physical Requirements: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to handle or feel; and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 15 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds. Depending on work assignment, may require ordinary ambulatory skills sufficient to visit other locations. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. The work environment will consist of moderate noise (i.e. business office with computers, phones and printers, light traffic). The employee must have the ability to work in a small cubicle and have the ability to sit at a computer terminal for an extended period of time. Overall mobility is essential. May also include driving a vehicle and working under challenging conditions.
