The American Red Cross is seeking a Lead Grants Specialist to support the Colorado/Wyoming and Nevada/Utah Region. This is a hybrid work position which includes a mix of virtual and in-office work weekly in our Denver location.  The position also requires travel to Salt Lake City 1-2 times/year.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:

You will support the fundraising department in establishing best-in-class donor cultivation, engagement and stewardship resources and processes that retain and grow donor investment in the mission of the American Red Cross. A successful team member will have strong persuasive writing and project management skills and be willing to take on new tasks. This position will be responsible for written communication to donors, including: grant proposals, stewardship reports and informational updates – as well as donor cultivation event support and donor recognition activities.

WHERE YOUR CAREER IS A FORCE GOOD (key responsibilities) :

  • Research, write, develop, and implement strategies to increase revenue through workplace giving campaigns and grant proposals. Enhance relationships with foundations and government agencies in support of funding needs.

  • Participate in grant/funding development through grant research, selection, and proposal writing processes. Ensure grant program’s adherence to American Red Cross, government and industry guidelines.

  • Works closely with colleagues across departments to ensure that the organization takes full advantage of programmatic funding opportunities.

  • Maintains grant proposals and reporting calendar. Personally responsible for researching and writing grant proposals and reports.

  • Conducts in-depth analysis and exploration in order to advise others regarding which foundations, agencies or corporations would be suitable to approach for the organization’s funding needs.

  • Gathers and analyzes all information required for donor communications including service deliver statistics, financial information, impact stories and community profiles. Conducts regular trend analysis and shared pertinent data with relevant stakeholders.

  • Creates donor stewardship reports and authors a variety of donor communications.

  • Implement and create best practices on workplace giving for United Way and other foundations.

  • Provide guidance and collaborate with Leaders to develop and execute the strategy to build grantor relationships, streamline the grant process, and increase support.

WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED:

  • Associate's Degree or equivalent required.

  • Minimum 7 years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and related experience required.

  • Skills & Abilities: Good interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills. Basic proficiency in use of Personal Computer, word-processing, spreadsheet applications, and database applications when applicable. Ability to work on a team.

  • Knowledge of office systems: MS Office preferred and fundraising database systems (e.g., Raiser’s Edge, Salesforce.com) a plus.

  • Travel: May include occasional travel and participate in meetings and conferences throughout chapter jurisdiction, state and Red Cross system.

  • A current, valid driver's license with good driving record is required

  • Proposal or writing samples will be asked during the interview process.

Combination of candidate’s education and general experience satisfies requirements so long as the total years equate to description’s minimum education and general experience years combined (Management experience cannot be substituted).

Physical Requirements: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to handle or feel; and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 15 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds. The work environment will consist of moderate noise (business office with computers, phones and printers, traffic light). The employee must have the ability and have the ability to sit at a computer terminal for an extended period of time.

Pay Information: _  _T he pay rate for this role this position is $25-29.00/hr . This is a full time position and eligible for benefits.

This job will be posted for a minimum of five business days and extended if the applicant pool needs to be expanded.

Other factors that may be used to determine your actual salary may include your specific skills, how many years of experience you have and comparison to other employees already in this role.
