Samaritan Daytop Village Family Therapist in Staten Island, New York
The candidate will be currently licensed as a marriage and family therapist by the New York State Education Department and have a minimum of 2 years of experience.
S/he will conduct family assessments, provide family psycho-education and CBT, engage the client's family and support network in the treatment and recovery process, provide individual family therapy and conduct family interventions.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Develops and oversees family programming for maximizing opportunities for participants.
Provides services consistent with guiding principles of Agency’s philosophy of strength based, family focused, needs driven and culturally competent care.
Collaboratively formulates and implements an overall comprehensive care plan for each family.
Engages with families in a manner that respects ethnic and cultural practices/customs/ and differences.
Discuss and help clarify the participant’s goals for family involvement in their treatment, including, exploring uncertainties and/or challenges in family involvement.
Act as a liaison to facilitate and support communication between participants and family members.
Provide Psycho-education to Participants and their natural supports.
Connect Participants and their family members with supports in the community and provides follow up support to encourage successful community integration.
Develop a personalized wellness plan with the Participant.
Perform other duties as requested.
REQUIREMENTS:
Education, Experience and Skills Required:
Master’s Degree in Social Work, Mental Health Counseling or Family Therapy Counseling.
Must have at least one experience working in a community- based setting with adolescents and/or adults experiencing a co-occurring Substance Use Disorder and Mental Illness.
Extensive knowledge of harm reduction and a commitment to providing services to individuals in various stages of their recovery.
In depth knowledge of NYC diverse network of medical and behavioral health care organizations, including substance use disorders, treatment services, education and employment services, and non-traditional community support groups.

License/Certification Required:
NYS LMSW, LMFT, LMHC or a mental health practitioner with a Limited Permit.
Obtain QHP -Qualified Health Professional status within 90 days of employment, if hired with a limited permit.
Preferred Education, License/Certification, Experience and/or Skills:
General understanding of Family Systems and familiarity working with diverse cultural and ethnic background.
Competency in written, interpersonal, verbal and computational skills to present and document records in accordance with program standards.
Knowledgeable about federal, state and local law and regulation governing substance abuse treatment programs.
