ABCO Maintenance is a Commercial Facility Maintenance/Construction Company that has been proudly serving the Tri-State area 24/7 for over 35 years. We are currently seeking a Legal Counsel specializing in Employment, HR, and Contract Law to join our team.

In this position, you will play a key role in ensuring ABCO operates within applicable legal frameworks while maintaining ethical and regulatory standards. Experience in employment law, HR policy creation and development, and contract management is a must.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Expertise in both multi-state and federal employment law.

  • Policy Development and Compliance: Develop and implement HR policies that align with legal requirements; monitor compliance with federal, multi-state, and local regulations.

  • Contract Management: Draft, review, and negotiate contracts with customers and vendors; collaborate to resolve disputes and protect company interests.

  • Company Certifications: Ensure compliance with industry certifications and maintain necessary legal and regulatory standards.

  • Training and Communication: Conduct training for employees on compliance matters; create and distribute legal communication materials.

  • Risk Assessment and Mitigation: Identify compliance risks and implement strategies; perform regular audits to ensure adherence to policies.

Position Requirements

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Over 5 years of experience in employment law, HR policy, and contract negotiation; experience in the maintenance or construction industry is preferred but not required.

  • Juris Doctor (JD) or similar degree with specialization or experience in Employment, HR, or Contract Law.

  • Candidates should have a solid employment history with at least one position held for five years or more, avoiding frequent job changes elsewhere.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to assess and address legal and compliance issues.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with internal teams and external partners.

  • Ability to stay current with legal developments and adapt policies accordingly.
