Pay & Benefits: The pay range for this role is generally $76,500-81,500 annually, commensurate with relevant experience and qualifications and in alignment with internal equity. Community Health Action of Staten Island (CHASI) drives dramatic improvements in the health of New Yorkers by feeding people who are hungry, healing families broken apart by violence, and bridging the gaps between people and the compassionate health care they deserve. CHASI provides outreach, education, prevention, and direct support services for populations most affected by health disparities – the poor and working poor, low-income people with chronic illnesses, persons with criminal justice involvement, substance users, domestic violence survivors, people of color, and the LGBTQ community.

POSITION SUMMARY:

CHASI’s Prevention & Intervention department delivers high-quality person-centered interventions to individuals at high risk of or have lived experience with HIV, STIs, and other chronic illnesses. The Associate Vice President (AVP), Prevention Services, is a member of CHASI’s leadership team and functions as the lead administrator for the portfolio of prevention contracts, in partnership with the Vice President of the division. The AVP works in conjunction with Vice President and the Prevention management team to develop, deliver, and evaluate program services and operations.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Monitor the performance of all the contracts in portfolio, providing direct supervision to the program’s managers and other direct reports, as assigned.

  • Implement and maintain an aggressive plan to achieve census and deliverable targets.

  • Analyze program performance and forecasts future demand and resource requirements to ensure effective program operations.

  • Assure compliance with all policies, regulations, and laws including those governing clients’ rights and HIV/AIDS and substance abuse confidentiality of information.

  • Monitor trends in program performance including client engagement, chart documentation, and referral management. Develop action plans to ensure that performance goals are met when needed.

  • Conduct ongoing Quality Assurance/Quality Improvement activities and ensure that client records reflect appropriate level of quality and engagement.

  • Implement and monitor conferences to foster communication between program staff, funders, and other key community stakeholders.

  • Directly provide supervisory support for some of the department’s management team and other department staff.

  • Support supervisors’ management of program personnel, including collaborating with Human Resources on recruitment, orientation, evaluation and corrective action.

  • Direct, and monitor training plans for staff, including both internal training and outsourced instruction.

  • Build, develop, and maintain community relationships and referral arrangements with community agencies and hospitals.

  • Participate in intra- and inter-agency community meetings and committees as assigned.

  • Complete reports detailing key program activity for submission to stakeholders and CHASI management.

  • Provide counseling and crisis intervention services as needed.

  • Attend and participate in continuing education programs, seminars designed to maintain professional competence.

  • Align all activities with CHASI’s mission, core values, and culture.

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master’s degree with 5 years, Bachelor’s degree with 7 years, or high school diploma/equivalency with 10 years of experience overseeing or working with HIV prevention related programs and clients, or other directly related relevant experience, required.

  • At least 3 years of experience supervising staff and overseeing programs required.

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret financial reports, service data, contracts, technical procedures, governmental regulations; able to write reports, policy and procedure manuals, and professional correspondence. Demonstrated success analyzing and interpreting financial and program data and responding quickly and effectively to improve program performance required.

  • Ability to work independently, establish priorities, and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.

  • Strong oral and written communication skills, including the ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from internal/external sources as well as the ability to relate effectively to clients, front line staff, middle and executive management.

  • Advanced computer skill, specifically Microsoft Office applications, including Excel and PowerPoint, internet navigation skills, and ability to use and quickly learn new databases.
