POSITION DETAILS

The College of Staten Island (CSI) is a City University of New York (CUNY) senior College organized around two academic divisions and three schools, with over 10,000 students. CSI offers a broad range of academic programs in the liberal arts and sciences, and in several professional areas. The College awards associate's, bachelor's, master's and clinical doctoral degrees, and in collaboration with The CUNY Graduate Center, numerous Ph.D. degrees. As the Associate Director responsible for the Reconnect Resource Center and Intake Center, the primary focus is on ensuring these centers operate efficiently and effectively, providing exceptional support to incoming students, particularly those who are adult reconnect students returning to education. This role involves strategic oversight, resource management, and direct support to facilitate a smooth transition for these students into academic life.

Reporting to the AVP of Enrollment Management/Dean of Admissions, key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Comprehensive Enrollment Management: Oversee the entire enrollment lifecycle, from prospective adult and non-traditional student inquiries through to enrollment and retention, ensuring a seamless and supportive experience for students. Develop targeted strategies for various student demographics to optimize enrollment rates and meet or exceed institutional goals.

  • Program Development and Evaluation: Initiate and oversee the development of new academic programs and special projects that align with market needs and institutional strengths. Conduct periodic evaluations of existing programs and services to determine their effectiveness and identify areas for improvement.

  • Strategic Recruitment Planning: Implement targeted recruitment strategies that effectively reach and appeal to Adult and non-traditional students, utilizing data-driven insights to tailor approaches.Oversee the execution of recruitment campaigns, ensuring they are well-coordinated and effectively communicate the value of the institution to prospective students.Evaluate the effectiveness of recruitment strategies and make data-informed adjustments to improve recruitment metrics and student engagement.

  • Operational Oversight: Ensure that the Reconnect Resource Center and Intake Center are adequately staffed at all times with trained professionals who can address the unique needs of adult reconnect students.Monitor daily operations to ensure that the center meets performance standards and are aligned with the institution’s goals for student engagement and support.Evaluate the functionality of the center regularly, implementing improvements as necessary to enhance service delivery and student satisfaction.

  • Leadership and Team Building: Cultivate a dynamic team environment that encourages innovation and excellence. Mentor and develop staff members, fostering a culture of professional growth and alignment with institutional values. Organize regular team meetings to discuss progress, challenges, and strategies, ensuring alignment with broader institutional objectives.

  • Data Collection and Reporting: Implement systems for tracking the effectiveness of the support services provided at the centers, using data to drive decisions and improvements.Regularly report on the centers' performance, highlighting successes and areas for improvement to senior management.Use feedback from students and staff to refine and enhance the support strategies implemented at the centers.

  • Regulatory Compliance and Accreditation: Ensure all enrollment practices and special programs comply with national and international accreditation and regulatory standards. Stay updated on changes in legislation and accreditation standards that may affect recruitment and enrollment practices, and adapt strategies accordingly.

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's Degree and six years' related experience required.

Preferred qualifications include:

  • Master's degree and six years of relevant experience on a college campus preferred.

  • Experience working in a student service center with strong working knowledge of Recruitment and Enrollment functions.

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as a colleague, think creatively, take initiative and use sound judgement under pressure.

  • Oversees daily office activities and staff development to ensure efficient and effective enrollment operations

  • Assists senior management in developing plans, implementing initiatives and assessing performance

  • Recommends and implements improvements to schedules, policies and procedures to advance unit effectiveness

  • Serves as resource expert on enrollment practices to resolve complex student issues, and assists students with special circumstances in receiving support

  • Plans and executes workshops, orientation sessions, and events to acquaint students with enrollment processes

  • Reviews and approves content for print and on-line enrollment materials

  • Prepares analytical and statistical reports for management

  • May manage professional and/or clerical staff as well as department budget

  • Performs related duties as assigned.

Salary commensurate with education and experience.
