The FLI Student Success Center (FLISSC) is proud to be part of the Centers for Equity, Community, and Leadership within the division of Student Affairs. The Centers consist of the Asian American Activities Center, Black Community Services Center, El Centro Chicano y Latino, First Generation and/or Low-Income Student Success Center, Markaz Community Resources Center, Native American Cultural Center, Queer Student Resources Center, and Women's Community Center. Each Center works to advance learning and student development through five pillars – Academic and Intellectual Engagement, Leadership Development, Mental Health & Well-Being, Community Building, and Alumni Engagement.

The FLI Student Success Center (FLISSC)is centered on the pillars of advocacy, mentorship, community & belonging and connections to resources to provide holistic support for first generation, low-income, transfers, current/former foster youth and FLI graduate students at Stanford. The FLISSC leadership team seeks candidates who demonstrates experience engaging with diversity through activities such as fostering an inclusive environment, ensuring access to opportunity for all students, working with students and staff from diverse backgrounds, and/or incorporating diverse perspectives in their work. This position reports to Associate Dean and Director of the First-Generation and/or Low-Income Student Success Center (FLISSC).

JOB PURPOSE :

The FLI Student Success Center (FLISSC) is hiring a Program Coordinator for Strategic Initiatives, who demonstrates a strong commitment to student leadership development, with a deep understanding of how to support the growth and learning of students, particularly those from first-generation, low-income (FLI) backgrounds. The ideal candidate will be skilled in cultivating spaces that empower student autonomy, amplify their voices, and foster a strong sense of belonging. They should have experience in event logistics planning and be adept at co-creating impactful programs alongside student staff, ensuring that all initiatives are student-centered and inclusive. The ability to engage students in meaningful ways, while supporting their unique identities and development, is essential for this role.

The position specifically involves overseeing, leading, and providing direct programmatic guidance to all events and initiatives within the First-Generation, Low-Income (FLI) Student Success Center. This includes high-profile programs such as the Stanford Big Five event, as well as the development and implementation of strategic initiatives that support the diverse needs of FLI students, including first-generation undergraduates, graduate students, transfer students, Guardian Scholars, and students from intersectional identities such as undocumented/DACA, international, and more. A major focus of this role is to create a supportive environment that strengthens students’ sense of belonging while ensuring they have access to holistic support, networks, and services that enable their academic and personal growth. The position requires strong program planning and organizational skills, with a focus on timeline management, budget oversight, and the logistics and operations of event planning to ensure seamless execution and high-impact results. In collaboration with the rest of the FLISSC professional staff, facilitate and plan programming that supports our pillars. Reporting to the Associate Dean and Director of the FLISSC working alongside Associate Director of FLISSC, and Opportunity Fund Manager and Program Coordinator will use a holistic approach to foster a sense of belonging and ensure that FLI students receive the support they need.

CORE DUTIES :

  • Oversee, review and administer student records by analyzing data, counseling students and providing recommendations that require interpretation and influence decisions. Make exceptions on issues of eligibility, course enrollment and program requirements.

  • Supporting FLI students in their academics and leadership journey and ensuring they access to campus resources, staff, and faculty as needed.

  • Develop recommendations by collaborating with staff, faculty, and other offices to address programmatic issues within the school and across functional units, such as optimizing enrollment. Collect and analyze data from multiple sources, including student feedback, surveys, trend reports, and analytics, to inform decisions. Prepare comprehensive reports summarizing findings and making recommendations to enhance programs, courses, and improve existing processes and policies.

  • Work closely with staff, faculty, and other campus offices to identify and address programmatic challenges, such as optimizing student enrollment processes. This includes gathering data from multiple sources, including student feedback, surveys, and trend reports, to develop actionable recommendations that enhance enrollment strategies and streamline academic offerings.

  • Provide advice to students on a range issues, including, but not limited to, academic progress, academic program policies, career plans, accessibility, community standards, etc., to guide them in making appropriate choices and decisions.

  • Support with developing and lead training sessions for student staff to enhance their understanding of academic policies, community standards, and support resources. Provide ongoing mentorship to ensure they are equipped to assist fellow students with making an informed referrals and help students navigate these critical aspects of their academic journey.

  • Provide first line response to identify students in crisis and refer to appropriate resources, as needed.

  • Assist FLI students in navigating their campus experience and may provide support by connecting them to campus resources such as CAPS, Well-Being services, academic advising, and others as needed.

  • Collect and analyze data from multiple sources including student feedback, surveys, trend reports, and data analytics. Prepare and summarize reports and make recommendations to enhance offerings, such as programs and courses and to influence current processes and policies.

  • Assist in creating pre- and post-surveys to assess the impact and outcomes of various FLI programs, using the feedback to determine program continuity, identify areas for revision, and implement changes to ensure alignment with the core pillars of the community.

  • Develop, analyze, influence and review policies, processes and programs by incorporating feedback and trend data learned from first-line interactions with students. Advise manager and team on policy updates and provide recommendation for implementation of changes.

  • May develop marketing materials and strategies for program activities and outreach functions which include designing flyers, social media posts, and email campaigns that highlight program benefits and encourage student participation. Assist in planning and developing webinars, education fairs and other external functions.

  • May train and supervise other staff, volunteers, student and temporary workers.

  • Support the FLI Community Coordinators in their programming efforts, front desk services, and various office projects, day to day needs, as well as volunteer options on campus events (e.g. Big 5, Special Initiatives, etc.).

  • Oversee and lead all events and initiatives within the FLI Student Success Center, providing strategic guidance and ensuring effective program planning, logistics, and

  • execution. This includes supporting signature events like the Stanford Big Five, as well as developing tailored initiatives for graduate students, Guardian Scholars, transfer students, and individuals from intersecting identities, such as undocumented/DACA and international students.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS :

Education and Experience :

  • Bachelor’s degree and two years of relevant experience, or combination of education and relevant experience.

  • Preferred Master’s in Education, Counseling, Student Affairs, or related field

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities :

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Basic computer skills, including experience with Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Basic analysis and problem solving skills.

  • Customer service skills.

  • Understanding of financial transactions.

  • Demonstrated experience with forging campus partnerships and working collaboratively to support the needs of students.

  • Experience in data collection and data analysis, as well as demonstrating competency in assessment and evaluation of student service activities in an educational setting to improve services to students.

  • Ability to learn and understand compliance with legal, financial, and university policies and external regulations.

  • Program Planning Expertise: Proficient in developing comprehensive program strategies, defining clear objectives, and establishing timelines to ensure efficient program execution.

  • Logistics Management: Experienced in coordinating complex logistics operations, including resource allocation, scheduling, and optimizing workflows to meet program needs.

  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Skilled in working with multiple teams to align resources, set priorities, and ensure seamless communication across departments.

  • Stakeholder Communication: Capable of maintaining clear and consistent communication with all stakeholders, ensuring expectations are managed and goals are met.

  • Team Leadership: Experienced in leading teams, fostering a collaborative environment, and driving high performance to achieve program milestones.

  • Process Optimization: Focused on continuous improvement, using data-driven insights to streamline operations and enhance program efficiency.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS *:

  • Frequently sit, perform desk-based computer tasks.

The expected pay range for this position is $77,397 - $78,000 per annum .
