Job Title: Staff Accountant

Industry: Commodities Trading Firm

Location: Fairfield County, CT

We are looking for an independent and driven Staff Accountant to join our dynamic team. This is an excellent opportunity for a dedicated professional to contribute to an integral part of our financial operations while gaining in-depth experience in the competitive commodities trading industry.

Responsibilities:

• Maintain financial reports, records, and general ledger accounts.

• Prepare journal entries, analyses, and account reconciliations and assist with monthly close processes.

• Contribute to the development and review of annual operating budgets and performance projections.

• Fulfill tax, sales and other financial audits by providing necessary reports and documents.

• Review and reconcile all accounts, ledgers, and reporting systems ensuring compliance with appropriate GAAP and regulatory requirements.

• Continuously enhance accounting procedures and provide recommendations for process improvements.

• Work closely with cross-functional teams, including operations, finance, and senior management, to support business objectives and drive financial performance.

• Assist with budgets and forecasts.

Requirements

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting.

• CPA Certification, or pursuit of CPA is preferred but not required.

• Proven experience in a similar role, preferably with industry exposure.

• Strong knowledge of the Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).

• Exceptional analytical skills and experience in report and analysis generation.

• Proficiency in MS Office, particularly Excel, and accounting software programs.

• Outstanding organizational skills and ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.

• High level of integrity and dependability with a strong sense of urgency and result-orientation.
