Job Title: General Laborer

Job Description

Perform a variety of tasks involving strenuous manual labor in commercial construction project settings. Clean and prepare job sites, maintain cleanliness, and ensure safety. Set up and maintain office trailers, temporary fencing, and gates. Perform landscaping, material handling, and storage duties. Provide assistance to carpenters and other trades as needed, and perform administrative tasks onsite or in the office.

Responsibilities

• Clean and prepare job sites by removing trash, rubble, waste, and debris.

• Maintain a clean job site by installing protection and signage, organizing tools and equipment, and securing the site daily.

• Clean and stock restrooms, bathrooms, and temporary facilities.

• Set up and maintain office trailers, construction entrances, and grounds.

• Install and maintain temporary fencing and gates.

• Erect and disassemble ladders, scaffolding, and barriers.

• Load and unload trucks, carry material up to 75 pounds, and up to 150 pounds with assistance.

• Perform materials handling and storage.

• Perform landscaping duties, including pulling weeds, hedging bushes and trees, and mowing.

• Dig holes, ditches, and trenches.

• Shovel dirt, gravel, and snow.

• Use and relocate pumps, generators, and hoses for removing water, filling tanks, or cleaning surfaces.

• Chip concrete, mix, pour, and smooth concrete.

• Grind, scrape, sand, and polish various construction materials.

• Apply paint to surfaces, including wood, metal, walls, sidewalks, and curbs.

• Escort and provide security and monitoring for personnel and equipment.

• Provide assistance to carpenters and other trades as needed.

• Perform administrative tasks onsite or in the office to help facilitate ongoing operations.

Essential Skills

• Experience in construction and site development.

• Proficiency with hand tools and power tools.

• Ability to perform strenuous physical labor in various weather conditions.

• Flexibility to work day and night shifts, including overtime.

• Ability to lift heavy objects and perform repetitive tasks.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Ability to operate a variety of hand and power tools, and hoists with proper instruction and certification.

• Strong focus on safety and quality.

Work Environment

Active construction site in Stafford, VA building the IAD350 data center. Project runs from January 2024 to January 2026. Work hours are from 5:45 AM to 2:00 PM, Monday through Friday, with some Saturday work required. Responsibilities include turning on lights, opening gates, and salting the grounds.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of Stafford, Virginia.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $20.00/hr.
