Bolongo Bay Beach Resort is located on the serene island of St. Thomas in the United States Virgin Islands and is a family-owned and managed beach resort nestled in a beautiful sandy bay along the Caribbean Sea. Known for our famous all-inclusive package, friendly hospitality, exciting experiences and one-of-a-kind guest amenities, there's no better place to see life in the Virgin Islands than at Bolongo Bay. We are currently the only all-inclusive resort in the U.S. Virgin Islands. To be eligible for this position, candidates must either reside on St. Thomas or be able to relocate before the start date. The Assistant Sales Manager is responsible for developing business and the administration and coordination of all events. The position works closely with the Sales Manager to ensure events run smoothly. Duties and Responsibilities: - Develop business and drive sales revenue. - Assist Sales Manager with the coordination of events such as weddings, anniversaries, rehearsal dinners, private parties, and incentive travel and private charters. - Secure deposits, contracts, event orders and guarantees plus invoicing prior to event. - Secure vendor services including cakes, photography, flowers, music, tables, seating, and centerpieces - Coordinate and monitor event timelines and ensure deadlines are met - Coordinate and schedule BEOs with Food and Beverage Department - Manage correspondence with vendors, outlet managers and clients - Work closely with Sales Manager and Executive Chef on menu selections and planning - Determine staffing and training requirements for employees working events - Determine location of events and seating and setup. - Keep inventory of projectors, speakers, decorations, linens, and tableware and maintain equipment - Organize all equipment and storage lockers - Maintain Heavenly Days master schedule - Maintain information database, social media, and Bolongo Brides Facebook page - Learn reservation system and help answer phones and calls that come into the resort daily. Qualifications: - High School Diploma or a GED equivalent - Prior experience in Hospitality and especially Events and Weddings. - Good problem solving and critical thinking. - Ability to demonstrate productive leadership and positive supervisory skills - Superior written and oral communication skills, and ability to communicate effectively with guests. - Excellent team oriented organizational and time management skills Physical Requirements: Light work standing, bending, stooping, working outside on the beach decorating Arches and event spaces, walking frequently especially during events, must be able to lift 25 pounds. Able to operate equipment such as a golf cart. Must have a VI Food Handlers Card.
