Adjunct Instructor (Gender and Politics in the US) - Part Time Gender, Women, and Sexuality Studies & Political Science Description Position Details: Gustavus Adolphus College invites applications for a part-time position of Adjunct Instructor with dual appointment to the Gender, Women, and Sexuality Studies Program and the Department of Political Science to begin August 15, 2024. Department Information: The Gender, Women, and Sexuality Studies interdisciplinary program examines gender and sexuality as cultural and social categories that organize and shape human experience. We are a vibrant and growing program, typically graduating 4-10 majors a year, with students, faculty, and course offerings that span the campus. The Department of Political Science helps students develop an understanding of political processes and institutions and to acquaint them with the issues and problems that politics tries to manage. The Department also teaches students skills of analysis, research, and evaluation so that they can become more informed citizens. Prerequisites What s required: MA in Gender, Women, and Sexuality Studies or Political Science (or a related field) Evidence of commitment to undergraduate teaching What s preferred: Evidence of effectiveness in teaching Demonstrated commitment to supporting students from diverse backgrounds and identities Prior experience teaching courses in Gender, Women, and Sexuality studies and/or in Political Science with a focus on gender and sexuality Things you will do: Teach 1 or 2 course sections during the 2024 Fall semester. Primary teaching responsibilities will include 1-2 sections of GWS/POL 285: Sex, Power, and Politics Help cultivate a welcoming community where everyone feels a sense of belonging. Things you can choose to do: Improve your teaching by joining a teaching circle, participating in workshops, applying for an internal teaching development grant, and engaging in conversations about teaching with colleagues across campus. Develop professional skills by participating in faculty meetings and committees, attending faculty development days, and taking advantage of the College s membership to the National Center for Faculty Development and Diversity (NCFDD).
