As the Production Supervisor, you will oversee all aspects of a manufacturing unit, ensuring a safe work environment, staff management, and training practices. You will lead daily operations, supervising teams following Watts’ policies and procedures, managing both personnel and production-related tasks. This position requires hands-on leadership, continuous improvement focus, and the ability to drive performance across multiple disciplines within a CNC machine shop environment.

You Will:

  • Be responsible for department safety training and developing a strong safety culture, implementing tools such as Safety SOPs, Job Hazard Analysis, and Ergonomic Improvements.

  • Maintain a productive and safe work environment for all production employees.

  • Establish production and quality control standards, budgets, and cost efficiency metrics in collaboration with management.

  • Coordinate machine maintenance with the maintenance staff to minimize downtime and increase efficiency.

  • Strive to achieve maximum productivity, efficiency, and minimal scrap in day-to-day operations.

  • Hold staff accountable to company policies and procedures, managing documentation for attendance and disciplinary issues.

  • Cross-train direct reports to enable interchangeability in each manufacturing discipline.

  • Prepare and review weekly hourly payroll, ensuring accurate labor reporting.

  • Develop a vision for future efficiency improvements, safety enhancements, and cost reduction initiatives.

  • Coordinate with the production planner to optimize changeover sequencing, minimizing labor and material costs.

  • Hire, manage, and develop staff performance, focusing on training programs and documentation.

  • Enforce workplace organization and cleanliness (5S).

  • Collaborate with Quality Assurance to ensure goods meet internal manufacturing standards and external listing requirements.

  • Provide daily production updates during staff huddle meetings and maintain tooling, documenting changes in setups and control plans.

  • Manage reported hours for production staff, remain available for emergencies 24/7, and advise on supply levels, generating requisitions as needed.

  • Oversee inventory accuracy and reconciliation, while communicating daily production targets and goals to the team.

  • Issue daily efficiency reports to operators, assist in obtaining quotes for production activities, and contribute to capital equipment procurement decisions.

  • Employ methodical problem-solving to address process changes and improvements, controlling labor costs effectively.

You Have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.

  • 5+ years of production supervisory experience in a CNC machine shop environment.

  • Proficiency in reading, analyzing, and interpreting shop drawings, technical publications, and technical procedures.

  • In-depth knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles.

  • Strong management and leadership skills, including coaching and team facilitation.

  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure/training manuals.

  • Familiarity with mathematical concepts like probability, statistics, fractions, percentages, and ratios.

  • Capacity to interpret instructions in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

  • Experience supervising up to 25 direct reports.

Physical Requirements:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to walk, talk, and/or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand, sit, and use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include: close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment:

Work in both office and manufacturing environment. May occasionally be required to perform job duties outside the typical office setting.
