Brown & Caldwell Portfolio Design Manager in St. Paul, Minnesota

Description This highly visible leadership position plays a vital role in the success of their team and Brown and Caldwell. The Portfolio Design Manager (PDM) oversees the delivery resources of their respective Portfolio Delivery Team within Design Services and ensures that all projects within their respective portfolio meet established metrics. The key objectives of the role include: Supervision and development of Portfolio Delivery Team to ensure the team has the resources and skills to deliver all design projects for the respective portfolio throughout its life cycle. Responsible for the successful delivery of design projects within their portfolio. Includes meeting budget, schedule, and delivering to client satisfaction. Meets BC quality criteria. Team with and engage with the Portfolio Client Services Team to determine capacity for upcoming design projects. Supporting and reinforcing adherence of BC quality policy along with the Portfolio Chief Engineer and use of design standards and best practices uniformly across the company. PDM Responsibilities Coordinate directly with Local Leader and key PMs and CSMs: Support delivery of design projects helping to balance project talent demands across the portfolio with complete delivery teams. Work with Leaders to support pursuits of large, complex and company-priority design projects. Monitor the overall performance for the various operations design portfolio teams: Maintain rollup of master schedule of delivery projects, pursuits and milestones across the portfolio. Work with Area Leaders, Local Leaders and National Discipline Leaders to identify and address personnel, performance and process issues. Determine what the Portfolio delivery needs are. Oversee the PDL team in ensuring the resources necessary are provided. To delivery all design projects successfully. Engagement with the respective Business Unit leadership team to support pursuits and project delivery; including understanding workload needs. Maintain a master resource-loaded portfolio project schedule. Interact with Director of Design Delivery to provide any additional information as necessary. Coordinate with the Portfolio Chief Engineer to drive compliance with BC and project specific design standards by the project delivery teams. Maintain portfolio project performance metrics (ex-percent budget expended per deliverable). Engage regularly with employees across the portfolio to monitor org health employee satisfaction and resolve or escalate issues. Recommendation of discipline hiring requisitions and offers, based on needs; under the direction of the Director of Design Delivery. Recommendation to Director of Design Delivery of all discipline staff promotions, merit increases, and performance management. Approval to direct staffing changes on design projects on their respective portfolios. Approval of design project pricing. Desired Experience: 15+ years of design or related experience preferred. 10+ years' experience in project and/or design management preferred. P.E. required. Ability to productively lead and gain trust of delivery teams. Ability to provide exemplary customer service to Leaders (BU, Area, Local, and PMO) associated to the portfolio. Ability to facilitate project staffing decisions with all pertinent stakeholders. Ability to leverage company-wide technical resources and expertise. Good understanding of BC's project delivery standards. Ability to work well under pressure and competing deadlines. Salary Range: The anticipated starting pay range for this position is $145,000 to $238,000 annually and may be more or less depending upon skills, experience, and education.
