Ever-Green Energy LLC PLANT OPERATIONS MANAGER in St. Paul, Minnesota

Ever-Green Energy is looking for a team member to be responsible for the heating and cooling operations, maintenance, safety, environmental, facility personnel, and reliability of our newest district energy operation, located in Minneapolis, MN. Working with the customer, the Operations Manager will communicate, as necessary all relevant plant information, as well as ensuring alignment on plant projects, scheduling, emergent situations, and other pertinent information in regards to the facility. Minimum requirements to be successful in this role: High School Diploma with strong technical training in boiler and chiller operations and related areas. Ten (10) years of progressive experience in the operation of power plant or district energy and related boiler and/or chiller plant. Five (5) of those years in a supervisory position is preferred. An understanding of steam boiler and turbine operations. Demonstrate ability to coordinate and manage operations and maintenance activities and set and achieve goals with a high degree of self-initiation and independence. Ability to work well with others in a team-setting, to communicate clearly both orally and in writing, to direct and train others. Expertise with boilers, chiller equipment and their auxiliaries. Computer skills in word processing, spreadsheets (Microsoft Excel), and plant controls applications. Preferred requirements: A valid State of Minnesota Class A Chief Boiler Engineer's License or able to obtain one. Supervisory training and course work in mechanical or electrical engineering is a plus. In-depth knowledge and understanding of state and federal environmental laws and regulations and experience in the administration of policies and the management of data required to demonstrate compliance. Experience in creating and administering local safety procedures and programs in an industrial environment. Experience in asset management and ladder-logic. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 1. Supervise the operation of the facility and related equipment to achieve safe, reliable and efficient operation in compliance with Company, OSHA, air and water quality regulations. 2. Routinely communicate with and work with the customer to ensure all aspects and obligations of the service contract are met. Maintain an open line of communication to ensure knowledge of and alignment on plant status, planning, projects, current challenges and plans for correction to plant equipment, improvement initiatives, safety status and concerns, and other items as appropriate. 3. Coordinates the scheduling of heating and cooling production equipment for preventive and corrective maintenance. 4. Routinely inspect and monitor plant equipment and operations, lead efforts to trouble shoot, identify corrective actions, and identify root causes of plant operational problems and develop recommendations for resolution, and prevention of reoccurrence when applicable. 5. Assists in the preparation of operational budgets and in managing those budgets to provide effective fiscal results. 6. Continuously reviews and improves plant operating practices and procedures. Ensures communication and/or training of these changes is provided to production staff. 7. Implements refresher and Just-In-Time training, such as seasonal operational changes, consistent with current and upcoming plant activities to improve operational consistency and effectiveness. 8. Develops recommendations for improved effectiveness, efficiency, reliability, and safety, including modification, addition, or replacement of equipment, and changes in operating procedures. 9. Develop and maintain contingency plans, procedures, and call-lists for service interruptions and operational disruptions. Train and validate staff's ability to respond to such disruptions. 10. Be on 24-hour call to resolve operational or staffing problems as necessary and in orm Director of Operations and the customer as appropriate for situations that require immediate attention. 11. Coordinates availability of vendors as necessary for activities such as water treatment, electrical services, and others. 12. Coordinates the procurement of materials for support of operations including but not limited to: repair parts and materials, office materials, consumables, tools, fuel-oil, and others. 13. Schedules plant personnel to ensure safe, reliable 24/7/365 operation of the plant while complying with the provisions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement and state boiler operator licensing requirements. 14. Monitor regulatory compliance and assist in managing the requirements of the facilities permits. Assist in the assembly of reports in a timely manner to ensure all regulatory submissions are met. 15. Reviews daily operating logs, reports, and data; ensures inconsistencies or apparent problems are investigated, addressed, and resolved. Uses this information to improve plant procedures, processes, and operations. 16. Performs other duties as assigned.
