This position serves our partners at Minnesota’s largest state agency, the Department of Human Services (DHS). The MNIT DHS team supports complex and varied technical needs, including systems that provide health care coverage, deliver child protection and welfare services, and provide support for Minnesotans with special needs including mental illness, chemical dependencies, and physical or developmental disabilities.
In this position, you would be responsible for managing the centralized IT accounts payable and auditing function for MNIT partnering with DHS and MNsure. The person in this position handles complex transactions which require an understanding of the Statewide Integrated Financial Tool (SWIFT) to effectively control, analyze, audit and prepare appropriate accounting records and reports in order to recognize and mitigate errors or problems.
The demands of the position require a high degree of attention to detail and accuracy. The person in this position needs to investigate, resolve and/or escalate accounting discrepancies while working cooperatively and collaboratively with colleagues, vendors, procurement staff, authorized representatives, and other technical and financial staff.
This position is currently eligible for full-time telework:
Telework (https://mn.gov/mmb-stat/policies/1422-telework.pdf) for Minnesota IT Services allows an employee to perform work from a telework location and an employee may be required to be in the office based on business needs and other dependencies in St. Paul, Minnesota.
Only candidates located in Minnesota and bordering states (Iowa, North Dakota, South Dakota, or Wisconsin) are telework eligible.
Minimum Qualifications

Position requires a minimum of two (2) years of experience in an accounts payable and/or auditing role.
Experience must include:
Expense and invoice tracking and processing.
Reporting, auditing, and account Reconciliation.
Mathematics skills sufficient to calculate, review and reconcile data and balance accounts.
Ability to deliver effective verbal or written messages that facilitate a mutual understanding on both parties.
Customer service skills that include active listening, empathy, and problem-solving.
Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office programs (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.) sufficient to create and modify emails, letters, documents, reports, charts, graphs, spreadsheets, and presentations.
Use of Microsoft Teams or a similar collaboration tool.
A bachelor’s degree or higher in Business Administration, Office Administration, or related field substitutes for two (2) years of experience, OR an Business Administration, Office Administration, or related associate’s degree substitutes for one (1) year.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience handling complex transactions in Statewide Integrated Financial Tool (SWIFT)
Knowledge of the MNIT, DHS, & MNsure organizations, especially in the areas of policies, procedures, programs, systems, and contacts related to procurement and invoice processing.
Ability to communicate effectively and maintain positive and respectful working relationships with diverse clientele, both internal and external.
Experience working in a team-oriented environment and process improvement initiatives
High level of accountability, accuracy, and efficiency, especially when multitasking
Demonstrated ability to facilitate knowledge transfer and build effective business relationship.
Expert knowledge of the English language and business communication, sufficient to produce clear, comprehensive, emails, reports and memos using correct spelling, punctuation, grammar, and sentence structure construction.
