This position serves our partners at Minnesota’s largest state agency, the Department of Human Services (DHS). The MNIT DHS team supports complex and varied technical needs, including systems that provide health care coverage, deliver child protection and welfare services, and provide support for Minnesotans with special needs including mental illness, chemical dependencies, and physical or developmental disabilities.

As an Information Security Analyst, you will provide security analysis and security automation. Additionally, you will use secure programming knowledge and skills for applications supported by the Office of Information Security Division in maintenance and new project work software development life cycles.

This position is currently eligible for full-time telework:

  • Telework (https://mn.gov/mmb-stat/policies/1422-telework.pdf) for Minnesota IT Services allows an employee to perform work from a telework location and an employee may be required to be in the office based on business needs and other dependencies in Saint Paul, Minnesota

  • Only candidates located in Minnesota and bordering states (Iowa, North Dakota, South Dakota, or Wisconsin) are telework eligible.

  • This position is temporary and includes full state fringe benefits; the position is anticipated to last up to two (2) years.

Minimum Qualifications

Position requires a minimum of two (2) years of experience in an information technology or information security field.

Experience must include:

  • Working with relational databases.

  • Programming skills.

  • Ability to deliver effective verbal or written messages that facilitate a mutual understanding amongst all parties.

  • Customer service skills that include active listening, empathy, and problem-solving.

A bachelor’s degree or higher in Information Technology or an IT related field substitutes for two (2) years of experience, OR an IT or related associate’s degree substitutes for one (1) year.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Security or related field.

  • Knowledge of Information security standards (NIST, ISO 27001/17799), legal and regulatory requirements and controls that have a direct relationship to information security and privacy practices (FISMA, HIPAA, IRS Publication 1075, FBI Criminal Justice Information Security (CJIS), Social Security Administration (SSA) Information Security Requirements for State and Local Governments, GLBA, Payment Card Industry (PCI), FERPA etc.).

  • Experience with JSON.

  • Communicating and training of technical issues to non-technical employees.

  • Writing project plans, establishing priorities, allocating resources/workloads in a team environment.

  • Experience developing and delivering written and oral communications, presentations, and documentation.

  • Security certification (CISSP, CISA, CISM, GSEC, Security+, etc.).
