The Minnesota Board of Medical Practice protects the public’s health and safety by assuring that the people who practice medicine or as an allied health professional are competent, ethical practitioners with the necessary knowledge and skills appropriate to their title and roles.
The Board regulates over 41,000 health care providers and investigates over 1,200 complaints annually. This Board enforces statutes and rules for the regulation of people who practice medicine or as an allied health professional including physicians, acupuncturists, athletic trainers, genetic counselors, naturopathic doctors, physician assistants, respiratory therapists, and traditional midwives. This position offers an opportunity to use your expertise working with a team of professionals to further the work of the Minnesota Board of Medical Practice by assisting in the Complaint Review Unit.
Specific responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to:
Assure statutory compliance for receipt, set-up and distribution of compliant files.
Using specialized software, coordinate the preparation and distribution of Complaint Review Committee and Board agenda materials; and prepare conference room for scheduled meetings.
Maintain and update both paper and electronic filing system for open and closed complaints, information and hold files, as well as disciplinary and corrective actions. Reconcile caseload dockets for the Board and the Attorney General’s office.
Manage all incoming and outgoing mail for the office.
Provide clerical and administrative back-up support for office’s administrative staff.
Minimum Qualifications
Customer services skills sufficient to provide information to clients, including phone calls, emails, and walk-in contacts in a helpful and courteous manner.
Data entry skills sufficient to accurately create database records and update entries or create and apply the basics of spreadsheets and retrieve information in databases.
Communication skills in writing, speaking, and reading sufficient to compose correspondence with accurate spelling, grammar and punctuation; and to communicate effectively with co-workers, customers and the general public.
Spreadsheets skills sufficient to develop and modify complex spreadsheets, and sort and extract data.
Typing/keyboarding skills sufficient to complete a variety of reports, letters and data summaries.
Word processing skills sufficient to develop and modify a variety of correspondence, records and reports; develop forms and charts.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with processing and maintaining licensing and complaint data as classified by state law.
Ability to work well in a high volume, deadline-driven environment.
Ability to adapt to a changing work environment, policies, and priorities.
Ability to function successfully as a team member and shift roles, as needed.
Ability to prioritize daily work priorities.
Research skills sufficient to search for information from different sources to make decisions.
Problem analysis skills with ability to understand and recommend possible solutions.
