The MNIT DOC team runs many unique applications that manage the information and security of the department, supporting 4,500 employees across 11 prisons and 50 field offices located throughout the state.
*This position is temporary, includes full state fringe benefits, and is anticipated to last up to three years.
As a Business Information Systems Specialist, you will function as a Business Data Steward, Reporting Analyst, and Business Software Configuration Specialist in Minnesota IT Services (MNIT) serving the Department of Corrections (DOC). This includes partnering closely with business owners, stakeholders and vendors on the management of, coordination and communication of business needs and impacts, including access management and business application configuration.
This position is currently eligible for full-time telework:
Telework (https://mn.gov/mmb-stat/policies/1422-telework.pdf) for Minnesota IT Services allows an employee to perform work from a telework location and an employee may be required to be in the office based on business needs and other dependencies in St. Paul, Minnesota.
Only candidates located in Minnesota and bordering states (Iowa, North Dakota, South Dakota, or Wisconsin) are telework eligible.

Position requires a minimum of two (2) years of increasing responsibilities and experience as a Business Analyst, Business Systems Analyst or Systems Analyst for a portfolio of Software as a Service (SaaS) application.
Experience must include:
Epicor Kinetic, including inventory management, warehouse setup, financial processes, and daily ERP operations with a solid understanding of business aspects and daily elements.
Gathering application requirements, managing user administration, performing business configuration changes, troubleshooting data/application issues (including basic SQL), and handling SaaS application vendor releases/upgrades.
Acting as a liaison and coordinating between business, IT and vendor, with a focus on understanding day-to-day business administrative aspects, to ensure smooth and reliable operation of solutions.
Ability to deliver effective verbal or written messages that facilitate a mutual understanding on both parties.
Customer service skills that include active listening, empathy, and problem-solving with an acute understanding of one’s audience.
Preferred Qualifications
Strong technical background with a solid understanding of business aspects and daily elements.
Knowledge of the State of MN, MN Department of Corrections and policies is a plus, especially knowledge of MINNCOR business process functions and business flows.
A working understanding of technology or application lifecycle management concepts.
Experience with ITIL and project management methodologies and ITSM ticketing systems
Experience with MNIT Services and/or Minnesota Department of Corrections policies and procedures.
Ability to organize and prioritize multiple deadlines and work independently and collaborate as part of a team, be able to define problems as they arise, and recommend alternative solutions.
Physical Requirements
Requires moving / lifting devices and technologies such as desktops, monitors, laptops, video conferencing devices and miscellaneous equipment from multiple locations. Desk to desk or from one agency site to another. Lifting devices on to storage shelves above head (40 lbs.) and being able to gain access or crawl under desks.
