This position has the primary responsibility of managing, overseeing, and regulating the Minnesota State Patrol's controlled asset and equipment inventory systems. The person in this position will work cooperatively with colleagues to ensure that all items comprising the Minnesota State Patrol's equipment and asset inventories are properly managed and accounted for in accordance with state and agency guidelines.
The person in this position will conduct ongoing research related to modern police equipment, uniforms, technology, and assets. The person in this position will be responsible for adhering to federal and state regulations that govern government assets, procurement, disposal, and inventory management. This position will serve as a liaison and trainer for other agency employees that utilize the Minnesota State Patrol's controlled asset, equipment, and uniform management systems.
The person in this position will work cooperatively with the Minnesota State Patrol's Fleet Manager, the Department of Public Safety's Warehouse Manager, and district level supervisors to ensure all assets and equipment items within the Minnesota State Patrols asset and inventory management systems remain properly managed, tracked, and accounted for.
Minimum Qualifications
Knowledge of using spreadsheet applications, such as Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets to enter, compile, store and retrieve data.
Fluently communicate, read, understand, and respond to a variety of communications, such as customers' questions, product catalogs, requisitions, purchase orders, detailed instructions and procedures, inventory controls, and distribution lists.
Using computerized inventory management software systems and applications to maintain an accurate inventory.
Explain the reasons for transactions and procedures, rules, and regulations to so that others understand the information they are being given.
Respectfully engage with clients, coworkers, and customers, when handling difficult or complex problems and resolving escalated complaints or disputes.
Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge and experience working with police equipment, uniforms, squad cars, and accessories.
Previous experience managing large asset or inventory systems.
Previous experience working with Asset Work M5 or similar asset management programs.
Previous experience working with law enforcement agencies.
Physical Requirements
Light: Requires occasionally moving and transporting such articles as file boxes and heavy hand tools or heavier materials with help from others and moving and transporting light objects frequently. Even though the weights being moved and transported may be a negligible amount, a job in this category may require positioning self to move to a significant degree or may involve maintaining a stationary position for extended periods.
