This position provides advanced level administrative support to the Special Claims and Mandatory Coverage sections of Special Compensation Fund (SCF), and to other units within the Workers’ Compensation Division and Department. Responsibilities include:
Administering the insurance verification program for the agency, consisting of researching and responding to constituent and unit requests for workers’ compensation coverage information
Determining the validity of coverage
Serving as an industry expert in this field
Utilizing the MWCIA (Minnesota Workers’ Compensation Insurance Association) and Secretary of State databases
Analyzing historical insurance policy records to research each policy period and provide factual information to stakeholders
Using a variety of databases, software programs, and computer equipment
Typing; legal servicing of documents; file production; computer entry and modifications; data retrieval and printing of information; mail handling; filing; and photocopying
Minimum Qualifications
Customer service skills sufficient to provide prompt, courteous and accurate information to a variety of customers in person, on the phone, and through e-mail and other written correspondence.
Ability to communicate verbally and in writing with internal and external customers and to read, explain and interpret a variety of materials to exam candidates.
Word processing skills sufficient to draft and update procedure manuals.
Math skills sufficient to perform basic calculations and assure proper fees are paid.
Data entry skills sufficient to read source documents and enter data in database and to compile, sort and verify data accuracy before entering it.
Database management skills sufficient to enter and retrieve data and run daily reports to verify data for completeness, accuracy and discrepancies.
Preferred Qualifications
· Experience providing training to a variety of internal and external stakeholders.
· Knowledge of Minnesota Workers’ Compensation Program.
· Research and analysis skills.
· Ability to communicate effectively with individuals with a wide range of backgrounds, who do not share your same culture, ethnicity, language, or other common experiences.
· Language skills other than English (such as Somali, Spanish, Hmong, Karen or ASL).
Additional Requirements

Hybrid for State of MN allows an employee to work a portion of the time remotely with a regular schedule of time at the designated office.
