Enclos is searching for a Structural Engineer to join our team based in St. Louis, MO, Eagan, MN, or Montreal, Quebec! Our firm's engineers specialize in tall building, seismic, high security, unitized curtainwall, and specialty facade systems.

Position Overview:

  • Registered Professional Engineer whose engineering services are associated with the design, fabrication, and installation of curtainwall systems.

  • Leads a project and coordinates design, fabrication, and installation of curtainwall systems.

  • Stamps and Seals façade shop drawings and structural calculations.

  • Manages and mentors E1-E4 to help them develop structural engineering, curtainwall, leadership, and project management knowledge.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Acts as Engineer of Record for the curtainwall and façade.

  • Leads the design and coordination of curtainwall shop drawings, structural calculations, and as-builts.

  • Reviews, Stamps, and Signs structural calculations, shop drawings, and as-builts.

  • Leads a single large or several small projects while delegating work to and approving the work of E1-E4.

  • Supports the efforts of other engineering projects under the leadership and supervision of another P.E.

  • Drafts solutions using hand sketches and computer aided design (CAD).

  • Analyzes systems and components using hand calculations and computer aided engineering (CAE) software.

  • Acts as software support and resource within the structural group.

  • Designs façade to follow Enclos' methods of best practice, building code, material design code, project specification, and vendor literature.

  • Promotes collaboration in diverse, cross-functional teams solving abstract and complex problems.

  • Ability to work independently. May peer review the work of others.

  • Demonstrates strong oral and written communication to effectively present information and respond to questions from supervising P.E., system designers, and operations team.

  • Acts as point of contact for Structural questions and concerns.

  • Ability to generate innovative solutions and alternatives to problems encountered in design and field.

  • Develops designs that are high-performing, efficient, and constructible.

  • Consults with P.E.s (E4-E6) to determine the best solutions regarding complex, unique, or controversial problems.

  • Creates, develops, and manages Structural Master Document Index (MDI).

  • Ability to conduct performance reviews for (E1-E4) as required.

  • Must have strong customer service, interpersonal communication, negotiation, and persuasion skills.

  • Attends Curtainwall Performance Mockups (PMU) and construction site observation as needed.

  • Serves as role model for Structural Engineering group in regards to professionalism and Behavioral Competencies listed below.

    Qualifications:

  • Ability to apply breadth and depth knowledge of façade systems, structural systems, engineering principles, and engineering practice.

  • Ability to write technical reports and business correspondence.

  • Ability to apply advanced engineering concepts in two and three dimensions such as, statics, single degree and multi degree of freedom dynamics, mechanics of materials, and stress and strain.

  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

  • Ability to use CAD, Word Processing, spreadsheet, Email and Internet software.

  • Familiarity with STAAD Pro v8, MathCAD, Autodesk AutoCAD, Inventor, Revit.

  • Understands failure modes and limit states.

  • Ability to qualify and quantify essential technical documents, building codes, general industry periodicals, material codes, and project specifications. Must synthesize this data to use in structural analysis of conventional and innovative materials, and architecturally complex façade systems.

  • Accurately model flow of forces through components and system.

  • Working knowledge of wind, gravity, seismic, blast, and ballistic design.

  • Ability to design specialty façade systems such as point supported glazing, cable nets, etc.

    Education, Experience, and Certification Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science(B.S.) or Master of Science (M.S.) in Engineering (Civil or Structural preferred).

  • E. or S.E. Registration in State of Residence.

  • Ability to become registered as P.E. in multiple states.

  • Experience with Performance Mock Up.

  • Construction site observation experience.

  • Structural Engineering (S.E.) License preferred.

  • Has curtainwall project, design, and field experience (1+ large/complex projects or 3+ small/conventional projects).
