Nexstar Media Group Reporter in St. Louis, Missouri

KTVI/KPLR News seeks a high energy full time news reporter hungry to own the big story.

Ideal candidate thrives on breaking news, hard news stories, and finds enterprise stories through their meaningful contacts.

We want a team player who can ad-lib with ease, go LIVE in sometimes difficult conditions while connecting with viewers through all our social media platforms.

This is an outstanding news operation and we want leaders and doers who can think for themselves while executing our brand and drive our market position of ‘live, local and late breaking.’

Primary Responsibilities:

Reporter will execute assignments following the direction of the News Managers, Assignment Desk, and Producers

Reporter must develop contacts, find enterprise stories to KTVI KPLR standards, report those stories in a fair and balanced fashion that avoids litigation.

Reporter must be a strong communicator who keeps us briefed on story developments, live location and makes slot

Reporter must know social media platforms and understand what type of content to post. Candidate will be expected to make public appearances and promote KTVI/KPLR when asked

Requirements:

2+ years of reporting experience and a Bachelor’s Degree

Strong writing and spelling skills, solid news judgment, accuracy and knowledge of current events in St. Louis

Highly professional with a strong work ethic, ability to perform in a variety of indoor and outdoor conditions, flexibility for when news breaks.

Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.

Must provide a link to online reel when applying.
