Compensation Range

Hourly: $29.30 - $34.60 (Amount based on relevant experience, skills, and competencies.)

About This Job

The main purpose of this job is to support the Private Client Advisors (PCA’s) who are accountable for the delivery of wealth management advisory services to high-net worth clients of Commerce Trust.

Essential Functions

  • Perform service and fulfillment activities to meet the needs and expectations of Commerce Trust clients

  • Participate in client meetings with PCA to support ongoing development of client relationship and implementation and delivery of services

  • Assist with account administration, document review and interpretation, fund transfers, discretionary actions within fiduciary engagements, and coordination of documents for tax preparations

  • Serve as additional point of contact within the client relationship team for clients and backup in the PCA absence

  • Maintain a client centric focus and desire to exceed client expectations

  • Effectively manage an assigned portfolio of relationships comprised of fiduciary and investment management clients

  • Collaborate proactively with internal partners to identify and service unique client needs while managing the overall client experience

  • Identify opportunities for the expansion of relationships with existing clients

  • Perform other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required

  • Advanced knowledge of types of trusts and investment accounts and the distinct understanding of the goals and objectives associated with each acquired through work-related experience and continuing education

  • Advanced knowledge of complex issues such as IRA Regulations, the Uniform Principal and Income Act, Gifting strategies, Income, Gift and Estate Taxes and their impact on administration of client accounts

  • Ability to articulate conceptual ideas and strategies to assigned clients and follow through with successful implementation and the goal to strengthen and expand assigned relationships

  • Skilled and knowledgeable in compliance and risk management issues with ability to proactively avoid/address and resolve independently

  • Ability to delegate appropriate responsibilities and collaborate with internal partners and maintain accountability for timely completion

  • Ability to remain adaptable and resilient to all situations with an optimistic outlook and cast a positive shadow that is aligned with our culture and Core Values

  • Positive attitude and ability to work independently to accomplish job responsibilities with minimal supervision

  • Professional presence and approach and desire to exceed client expectations

  • Ability to maintain a valid driver’s license and meet Commerce Bank’s driving record criteria; ongoing employment may be contingent upon meeting all driving requirements

  • Intermediate level proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Teams, and Outlook

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience required

  • 5+ years of experience in providing high level client service in a similar role required

  • Primary focus on trust, wealth management or financial planning preferred

  • Focus on continuing education and development with desire to expand responsibilities preferred

  • Certified Financial Planner (CFP) and/or Certified Trust Fiduciary Advisory (CTFA) designation or current progress towards earning designation preferred

At Commerce, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role, and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each situation. A reasonable estimate of the current base pay is $29.30 to $34.60 per hour. This position will be eligible for additional compensation through performance-based incentive plan(s) that will correspond to meeting performance goals.
