JOB SUMMARY:

Kemper Scholars Internship Program

Kemper Scholars internships will enable you to broaden your understanding of the business, make valuable connections, and set a course for your professional journey with us. You will work on special projects that positively impact our business and our customers. Kemper is looking for students who love to problem solve and are willing to make real-life impact on projects that may involve the senior executives to front-line associates. We deliver meaningful experiences in various internship areas like Product Development, Claims, Operations, Finance, IT, Data Analytics, and much more. Are you ready to create your own journey by joining ours? This is a 10-week paid internship offering challenging projects that support Kemper’s strategic priorities.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Kemper interns will be exposed to the following concepts and experiences:

  • Learn about the operations of a life insurance company including underwriting, policy administration, the call center, and claims.

  • Be assigned an operational excellence project and work alongside a business process engineer to deliver process improvement initiatives across one of the life insurance operations functional areas.

  • Interact and coordinate with other departments to gain an understanding of the innerworkings of a life insurance company and how each team meets organizational objectives.

  • Complete professional development assignments

  • Report out on operational excellence project results.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS (MUST HAVE):

  • Junior or Senior status enrolled at Harris-Stowe State University

  • Qualifying majors in an academic area related to financial services or insurance industry, such as, finance, data analytics, communications, accounting, or business administration.

  • Non-business majors are welcome if strong interest in financial services and/or insurance industry.

  • A minimum 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 GPA scale.

  • This position is a hybrid role and may require work in the office.

  • This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship.
