Business Unit Overview

8th Avenue Food & Provisions is a growing organization made up of businesses that produce and sell quality products including pasta, peanut butter, granola, and fruit and nut trail mixes to retail, foodservice and ingredient customers. The company was formed in October 2018 through a combination of Post Holdings’ private brands businesses and is owned by Post Holdings and funds affiliated with Thomas H. Lee Partners, L.P. (“THL”), a private equity firm.

Responsibilities

Position Summary:

The Corporate Sanitation Manager must possess an educational background and technical aptitude as it relates to food plant sanitation programs, chemical handling, and Food Safety systems. A Strong knowledge of food and environmental microbiological testing, as well as preventative measures, sanitary design, automated sanitation, and efficiency is required. This role will report to the Director, Ops QFS and Sanitation Leader and be a part of the Corporate Quality and Food Safety Team.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Develops and, working with the plants, implement strategic sanitation program, policies, plans and processes to ensure that sanitary performance meets company standards. Supports Food Safety requirement towards regulatory compliance. Review the cleaning and sanitization of equipment, surfaces, utensils, and plant environment by providing direction and technical support to all sanitation Management and supervisory personnel at the plants. Audit and report non-compliance and lead corrective action teams to assure compliance to all Sanitation and food safety requirements on an as needed basis. Review and audit sanitation requirements using Master Sanitation Schedules (MSS) and Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures (SSOP). Conduct necessary training to address sanitation / hygiene / GMP compliance. Familiarity with Software programs for MSS and food safety programs a plus. Accountable for the result and action plan of sanitation audits with the plants. Review Chemical Supply usage and titration accuracy programs for the plants. Lead cross functional Sanitation meetings with plant teams or other departments as required. Develop and assist with training to meet all job requirements and ensure compliance with all company and regulatory requirements across the plants. Track and trend critical sanitation metrics (micro swabs ATP swabs, pre op deficiencies) to measure performance and achieve improvements while maintaining all standards at the plant level. Review and direct activities related to pest control including monitoring, recordkeeping, exclusion practices and treatment programs across the organization. Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal food safety laws including applicable parts of the Code of Federal Regulations, FDA Food Code and Good Manufacturing Practices Regulations. Participate and assist in external auditing schemes such as GFSI - SQF requirements including various customer / 3rd party audit expectations. Analyze audit results and assist plants with corrective actions as needed. Support and execute the Company’s Food Safety programs across the facilities in conjunction with Quality Assurance, Microbiology and Food Safety. Provide input on sanitation excellence across the organization. Support and promote the company’s health and safety program, maintain a safe working environment, and ensure continued compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act Maintains a safe work environment. Other duties, as assigned by management. Competencies / Skills/ Abilities: Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Extensive knowledge of office administration, clerical procedures, and recordkeeping systems. Intermediate to advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite or similar software with the ability to learn new or updated software.

Education and Experience Required:

Bachelors’ Degree (BA/BS) from a four (4) year college or university, along with 5-7 years of related sanitation management experience in food manufacturing, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Three (3) years of direct people management experience required. Intermediate proficiency with automated CIP systems. Proficient knowledge of food safety systems. Certification / Licenses: Must possess a valid U.S. Driver’s License HACCP/PCQI certification (Preferred)

Physical Requirements: This position is regularly required to communicate with others, both oral and written. This position is occasionally required to stand, walk, use hands handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. This position regularly must stand and walk for up to 10 hours at a time. This position may work in hot, cold, or wet environments. Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus. Travel: This position may travel up to 70% of the time.
