Duties:
- Manages operations of the Prosecutor's Niles satellite office.
- Performs the duties of Legal Secretary I & II, Justice System Data Entry Quality Control Clerk, Victim/Witness Assistant and Caseworker/Legal Secretary.
- Completes a variety of clerical and administrative duties in support of Assistant Prosecuting Attorneys.
- Maintains inventory of supplies and equipment.
- Compiles information as needed by APA and defense attorneys and acts as liaison between the police departments, attorneys, and courts.
- Trains, assigns duties, and oversees work of part-time employees.
- Answers questions from victims, witnesses, and defendants regarding pending cases.
- Prepares discovery letters, subpoenas, writs and other legal documents.
- Processes citizen complaint letters and requests for police reports.
- Responsible for all data entry of authorized criminal and traffic cases. Updates OMS for defendants who bond out of jail.
- Prepares complaints and warrants for authorized criminal and traffic cases, reductions letters, serious misdemeanor forms and statistical reports.
- Prepares Circuit Court case bind overs and pleas.
- Performs annual review and computer check of all open files for closing, destruction and/or recycling.

Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent and three years of paid, full-time secretarial/clerical experience.
Required Knowledge and Skills:
- Considerable knowledge of the operating procedures of Berrien County courts, modern office practices, and secretarial practices.
- Capable of exercising independent judgment to resolve office problems with initiative and resourcefulness.
- Able to handle a broad range of tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with other employees, officials, and the general public.
- Strong skills in understanding and following complex verbal and written instructions.
- Able to assemble data, transcribe recorded material accurately, and prepare a variety of documents and reports.
Typing Requirement:
- Must have a minimum typing speed of 55 words per minute net.
