Corewell Health Patient Safety Attendant in St Joseph, Michigan
Shift and status
Full time, 7:00 p.m. to 7:30 a.m., variable days and every other weekend.
Location: float/flex between St. Joseph and Niles
Job Summary
Work under the direction and supervision of the RN. Provide one to one appropriate observation or frequent safety checks on
those patients identified as a suicidal, high risk for falls, wandering or self-injury throughout the shift at the direction of the RN assigned to the patient.
Essential Functions
Provide appropriate skill level to perform interventions/procedures as directed.
Provide supervision and diversion for suicidal/disturbed patients.
Activities such as assisting other clinical staff with care, and assisting the patient to eat are appropriate if the activity does not take attention away from the patient.
Accompany the patient to procedures off of the patient care unit.
Document on the Safety Attendant Flow Sheet and Guidelines
Receive and provide a face-to-face report at the following times: coming on or going off duty, before going on break or to meals, when a change in patient status or behavior is noted.
Actively participates in safety initiatives and risk mitigating measures where appropriate and completes all position and unit safety related competencies and requirements on a timely basis.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Required
High school diploma or equivalent
Preferred
Previous experience in a hospital or patient care
setting.
