As an Ophthalmic Assistant, your role involves, supporting the ophthalmologists/optometrists. You'll be the bridge between doctors and patients, ensuring smooth scheduling and efficient management of appointments.
Job Responsibilities • You will assist the ophthalmologists/optometrists by preparing patients for examination by performing preliminary testing, obtaining history and current complaints. • Transcribe the examination and assist in minor office procedures and laser treatments. Also drawing injectables, suture removal, checking blood pressure and blood glucose. • Counsel's patients about diagnosis and plan of care. • Complete requests for prescription refills as authorized by the physician, with full documentation in the patient chart. • Clean surgical instruments in preparation for sterile processing. • Monitors patient phone calls and requests. • Actively participates in educational opportunities and resources, including independent study courses to obtain company paid certifications.
