JOB DESCRIPTION – DEVELOPMENT TECHNICIAN

Linx Printing Technologies Ltd, a leading global provider of coding and marking solutions for date and batch coding of products and packaging across manufacturing industries, is seeking a Development Technician to help develop our next generation of continuous inkjet printers.

Linx’s continuous inkjet printers, laser coders, impulse jet printers, and thermal transfer overprinters apply primary and secondary codes onto products in a wide range of manufacturing sectors, wherever product identification codes, batch numbers, use-by dates and barcodes are needed. Linx is also one of the leading providers of Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) solutions in coding and marking, which includes cloud computing and analytics, to support Industry 4.0 initiatives and the future of the smart factory.

Our ideal DEVELOPMENT TECHNICIAN will:

Be responsible for operating and maintaining our drop control rigs. On a day to day basis observing and adjusting the positions of the printed drops, with the resulting large quantity of data needed for printer operation. The Development Technician will also be involved in wider range of technology development activities including lab maintenance .

In your main role at Linx, you will:

• You will be responsible for the operation and maintenance of our drop control rigs.

• On a day to day basis develop what we call rasters. That is determining the correct parameters (charge voltages) required to print our ink jet droplets in the correct position.

• Capture and store the data; moving smoothly to next raster when complete.

• Work in a collaborative manner with the team, agreeing priorities, timelines and proactively working through any obstacles.

• Communicate effectively through verbal updates (daily meetings) and technical reports.

• At times get involved with other technology development projects – building test equipment, conducting experiments, maintaining the wider lab area and join in team based problem solving

• Ensure a safe and healthy environment by complying with all company safety policies and procedures.

• Perform other duties as assigned

Critical Success Factors for the Ideal Candidate Profile are:

• An interest in the technology and its application

• A strong attention to detail

• An ability to maintain focus for long periods on a repetitive task

• Thoughtful, organised and disciplined in approach to their work

Your Education and/or Background Experience will have:

• HNC or equivalent in a technical discipline

• Computer literate - can use Microsoft Office tools like Word and Excel, can learn how to use new applications or tools quickly

• At least 2 years experience in an R&D or production test environment

• The role is very much laboratory based and not suitable for anyone seeking remote or hybrid working
