St. George’s University invites applicants for a full-time Instructor position, in the Small Animal Clinic in the School of Veterinary Medicine, beginning 1/2/2025.
Job Description
Objective

Essential Functions
Instructional Activities:
Deliver lectures and clinical laboratories/rotations in following courses/disciplines:
Introduction to Clinic Rotations (SAMS 528)
Introduction to Clinic Practice (SAMS 526)
Veterinary Physical Diagnosis I (SAMS 515)
Clinical Orientation (LAMS 502)
Professional Development I (LAMS 541)
Clinical Communication Skills Labs in the Professional Veterinary Development (LAMS 533)
Participate in clinical and academic teaching services offered by the SAC including oversight and supervision of students on companion animal medicine rotations/labs, surgery rotations/labs, Emergency and critical rotations/labs, management of hospitalized cases, outpatient procedures, physical exam labs, perform routine and emergency surgeries and procedures, and daily cage side rounds, student clubs lectures and labs.
Instruction of students in all aspects of general practice and emergency and critical care, clinical teaching of third year veterinary students.
Supplemental teaching
In addition to teaching in the core courses for the DVM program, faculty may be required to support departmental teaching in the graduate program and the pre-veterinary program as well as the Integrated Team Instruction delivery of the DVM program – a small group based curriculum delivery.
Deliver lectures in following courses/disciplines:
Clinical mentorship, supervision, and training of junior faculty
Clinical mentorship and supervision of technicians and assistants
Service
Participate in the following University activities:
Provide clinical service on medicine, emergency and critical care and surgery
Work with emergency cases and after hours shifts on a rotational basis, including but not limited to overnights and weekends and should enjoy working with veterinary students in a clinical educational setting.

To contribute to collaborative research projects between SGU and affiliate schools.
To actively participate in faculty activities, which include membership of various Committees.
Expected to perform any other duties as assigned by the SAC director.

Be available to work all year round, except for a 30 days vacation period annually.
Research and Scholarly Activities:
Actively engage in a research topic in a relevant area
Support student research and learning through supervision and mentoring of selected students
Contribute to curriculum review and innovation.
Practice continuous quality improvement of the courses and content delivered by the department
Active participation in scientific/educational conferences and Continued Education
Contribute to the academic advisory system for all students enrolled on the DVM program.
Qualifications
DVM or equivalent degree
Desirable Qualities
Experience teaching a clinical skills curriculum
Excellent oral and written communication skills
A commitment to the education of veterinary professionals
Must possess excellent interpersonal communication skills and a positive attitude toward student enrichment in all areas of academic and practical preparatory coursework.

This is a full time position in the Caribbean island of Grenada.
