Intermountain Health Culinary Diet Technician Expeditor PRN in St George, Utah

Job Description:

The Culinary Diet Tech provides nutrition services to patients. This position interacts with clinical caregivers, patients, and patient’s family members to explain the meal process.

Work Site & Scheduling

  • Expeditor Position

  • Work Schedule: PRN, as needed

  • Work Shifts Assigned: 5:00am-1:30pm or 12:00pm-8:30pm

  • Benefits Eligible: No

Essential Functions

  • Ensuring communication in the kitchen by calling out orders, getting the status on dishes, and calling room service staff to deliver trays.

  • Informing the room service staff when certain dishes or ingredients have run out and passing food requests from the call center to room service.

  • Ensuring that all orders are completed in time and with the correct priority.

  • Keeping the storage and prep areas clean, neat, and well-stocked.

  • Ensuring all staff adheres to health and safety standards.

  • Handling complaints and looking for solutions.

  • Ensures the efficient flow of orders.

  • Ensure orders are being prepared with the correct priority.

  • Assist in the final preparation of dishes.

  • Check dishes before delivery for accuracy and presentation.

  • Inspect the premises according to quality and sanitation standards and assist in cleaning.

  • Transfer important information between the kitchen and the room service staff.

  • Food prep as needed.

  • Support other tasks as needed

Qualifications

  • Food Handler Permit (as required by State) or ServSafe certification is required by first day of work. (Remote caregivers exempt)

  • Demonstrated ability to work with modified diets (preferred)

  • Demonstrated ability to provide exceptional customer service (preferred)

  • Food service or healthcare experience (preferred)

  • Coursework in Nutrition (preferred)

Physical Requirements:

  • Ongoing need for employee to see and read information, labels, monitors, identify equipment and supplies, and be able to assess customer needs.

  • Frequent interactions with customers that require employee to communicate as well as understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately.

  • Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy. This includes frequent computer, phone, and cable set-up and use.

  • Expected to lift and utilize full range of movement to transport, pull, and push equipment. Will also work on hands and knees and bend to set-up, troubleshoot, lift, and carry supplies and equipment. Typically includes items of varying weights, up to and including heavy items.

  • Remain standing for long periods of time to perform work.

  • Tolerate extremes in temperature such as performing work at a grill or in a refrigerator and tolerate exposure to cleaning chemicals.

The hourly range for this position is listed below. Actual hourly rate dependent upon experience.

$17.60 - $22.88
