Job Description
The QC Lab Technician - Nights will perform various quality control and laboratory functions to ensure food safety and product quality. This role involves microbiological analysis of products, water, and the environment, as well as supporting production and quality assurance functions.
Responsibilities
Perform microbiological analysis of products, water, and environment to support Pre-Operation sanitation and HACCP program.
Accurately collect samples for product testing, including energy drinks, sweetener samples, raw water, treated water, sanitation rinse water, and post sanitation swabbing.
Conduct analytical testing for energy drinks, including CO2, air, volumes, crimp, torque, pH, brix, flavor, and other required tests.
Perform Titratable Acidity analysis of products.
Conduct HPLC analysis of products for caffeine and preservative levels.
Perform T.O.A. (Taste, Odor, Appearance) analysis of finished products.
Ensure accuracy and calibration of all measuring devices.
Accurately record and document results from product analysis.
Ensure batching sheets are filled out properly and within specifications before signing off.
Review ingredient labels, specifications, weights, and regulatory documents to validate batching/recipe.
Communicate with batching, production, and sanitation teams to pull documents, review specifications, and support these functions from a QA standpoint.
Pull finished goods samples from production for analytical and customer testing requirements.
Review labels and documents for release of finished product.
Perform a QA Line Check every 4 hours during the shift.
Review GMPs and adherence to Food Safety Standards for production.
Check temperatures and calibrations of equipment with supporting documentation.
Essential Skills
Experience in wet chemistry and aseptic techniques.
Proficiency in quality control, line checks, and inspections.
Strong documentation and data recording skills.
Experience in conducting manufacturing line audits.
Experience in biology, chemistry, and quality control.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
2 years of experience in food quality or AA or BA/BS in a scientific discipline.
Strong data/documentation skills and communication abilities verified by references.
Work Environment
Cold Spring Brewing is a contract mixing and bottling manufacturer with a full brewery. The position involves working at two manufacturing sites, each equipped with analytical and micro labs. The work schedule is from 5:45pm to 6:00am on a rotating schedule (typically 2 days on, 2 days off, and 3-day rotating weekends). The role involves spending 50% of the time on the floor and 50% in the lab. The team is divided into Green and Yellow teams, with specific supervisors and managers overseeing the operations.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $23.00/hr.
